Thanks Chris-  wanted it to be about Bilbo at the start, and I always hated that stupid false, unnecessary drama of the firework being a momentary threat.

Eldo- I am relooking at the Gollum sequence to see if I can trim some time off it without losing anything. I think I can.

ps how did you find the Shadows of the Past sequence in terms of overall pacing? (Id like to get as many views on that before I decide to cut it somewhat or not, I can see bits of the Gollum sequence could go- I always meant to get rid of the bit of the fight where Deagol goes for the lethal move first- lets Smeagol off the hook to much for me- I always got the impression he was a lying, sneaky, unpleasent little ned before he got the Ring.)

I think Fellowship is perfect as it was.

But The Hobbit sux so if you ever feel like putting up the first bits I would defo watch that with great pleasure. as I am sure you will make great improvements.

No complaints from me. I didn't find myself saying, what happened to that bit, this bit why did he do that.
Go to Singapore tomorrow shame i didn't have the whole lot. Would have made the plane journey more pleasant.

Found the pace of it very good, was only going to watch a few mins but got drawn in pretty quick.

Yes but Mrs Figg you have never seen this opening before- so that wont apply- and its short, only a few minutes.

I'm the same. Have watched it to death, but Petty's cut was very good. Glad i watched it.

as I said, I wont be watching LOTR for a couple of years, I dont want to get bored of it.

Chris I think the pacing is slower, in that its not broken up with 'action' like the firework, or comedy as with Merry and Pippin, but I am generally happier with that pacing myself and the focus staying on the main story, and as I broke them up from three films into six 'books' I think you can get away with it in that format more than in a single film format- even though they are more or less the same length as PJ's FotR when the 2 books are added together.

But Figgs Im not asking you to watch the whole film- only the opening few minutes of new intro.

anywayz I have only seen the Hobbit twice and not in English, I can watch it for at least another time before it gets tired. so if you feel like putting it up on Dailymotion let me know as soon as you do it so I wont miss it. actually thats a good idea for the future, if you put something likely to get pulled immediately, let us all know in advance so we can catch it before it goes.

Problem there is time zones- it will take about 3-4 hours to upload part one of TH - which would mean it will be available at about 4am GMT if I start now.
If I wait so its early morning in Europe I have to be awake to start it about 5AM.
If I do it during the day I have to be here duing the day (tomorrow I will be on an island all day!)
And for the Amercians Eru knows and I dont even want to start thinking about Aussie time zones.

I see you point about Butterbur. I think he got caught up in the changes made to Bree as a whole since PJ wanted the village (and the Pony itself) to take on the sinister, threatening role that the Old Forest and the Barrow-downs had served in the book, being the Hobbits' first stop outside the Shire. I did think Butterbur was warmer than the other denizens of Bree, but that could be my reading of the book spilling over.

Yeah, I liked the Nazgul not showing up earlier. Especially the scene where they kill the Hobbit with the lantern. That always struck me as pointless and -- yet again -- a case of PJ not having the patience to unveil his villains in a more natural and sinister manner. Just, nope, they're coming and they're chopping down random dudes along the way.

do you have to be physically there in front of the computer when you upload it? cos if you do thats a bugger, very inconvenient.
