Were we taken in by stubble and handsome boyish looks? Or did we shun it for a bigger beard and a more mature character?
From 13 to 1, in a clear cut landslide win Forumshires favourite dwarf is....Balin.
It seems we like dwarves as Tolkien wrote them PJ- with beards and personality and reality about them- not looking like the latest boy band and having the same amount of personality.
meeeh.... well, he was cute and grandpa-ish and very much like the book.. although I liked Bofur and Thorin and Kili the most. and Ori

1 out of 13 to like 12 to choose from for who you dont!
And Forumshire just could not seem to make its mnd up as the votes came in, with all of the dwarves save Balin getting at least 1 vote each.
In the end, in what may well be seen as the shock result of the evening, the verdict from Forumshire on who is our Least Favourite Dwarf is.....Thorin.
To different from book Thorin? To young? Too handsome? To central to the film?
I suspect this one might spark some debate.

Computer graphics have come a long way since PJ made LotR's and boy does he want to play with his new toys in his film. With plenty of computer wizadry on display in The Hobbit film which bit of cgi really made us believe it?
By a landslide victory the winner is....Gollum.
Seems the extra work really made this one shine as it won this category by a large margin.

The downside to cgi is when it looks bad it takes you right out the experience and shatters the illusion film so depends on. So who ruined it for us at the cinema?
This was a two horse race, but beating the bollock-chinned Goblin King by 1 vote its...Azog.

Ouch! I did not see this one coming for Thorin.
Gollum looked fantastic though, even better than in LOTR. One of the few elements I'd say was an improvement from the older trilogy.

HOW COULD HE WIN/LOOSE THAT SHIT?! I MEAN, YEAH, HE DOES MAYBE NOT BE TOTALLY LIKE THE BOOK, BUT HELLO THERE?! THERE ARE OTHER DWARVES THAT ARE LESS LIKABLE... I MEAN.. ORI DOESN'T HAVE A BEARD AND SEEMS TO BE THE YOUNGES (NOT KILI)!

Lolololololol Azog. You sucked.
At least the Great Goblin can take solace in the fact that he stole the "Chin Most Resembling a Scrotum" award from Peter Griffin.

Aaaaww, sorry Norclet.
Maybe Richard Armitage will catch a break next year once everyone has learned to accept him (or not, I'm pretty surprised he lost at all ).

PJ as we know likes t make stuff up. Neither adaptation nor the elusive spirit of the thing PJ;s dicersions, aditions anmd ramblings can sure get up the crabbit levels. But which of his particular flights of fancy in this film really got our juices boiling?
The Worst Bit of PJ Nonsense is a tied result- and rather than cast a deciding vote it has been decided by the Panel that they both get the award, as there is nothing to pick between the awfulness of them.
The joint winners of Worst Bit of PJ nonsense are.... Azog's resurrection and Bunny sled/warg chase
It aint Tolkien, it aint looking good, it aint vaguely credible, and it screws up the film- got it PJ!!

Methinks Petty may have stacked the panel. But seriously, the bunny sled chase scene was the most laughable shit ever to have the Middle-earth label put on it. Azog was pretty terrible too, though.

Re: The 2012 Forumshire Awards sponsored by NotP and Buckie
Rarely, but occasionaly PJ can make additions that are not completely awful, shocking I know but there it is.
So which bit of PJ invention or addition most took our fancy? Which bit nearly made us forget some of the other stuff?
The winner of Most Suprisingly Effective PJ addition is....Destruction of Erebor.
Perhaps that it did not stray a million miles from Tolkien helped this one to a very clear victory.

All I could see when Azog was on screen was the Engineers from Prometheus.
Maybe it was just bad timing coming out in the same year but that went a long way towards ruining the design for me.

yeah. I agree on this one, although Azog's re-errection is probably the worst one. I can see how they kinda needed something to happen after Radagast suddenly turned up... so that worked, although it isn't right, but Azog.. couldn't it just be a revenge-hungry son named Bolg? (well, I guess Azog sounds cooler)

Re: The 2012 Forumshire Awards sponsored by NotP and Buckie
Destruction of Erebor was a good scene. Some of the CGI was a bit dodgy but if that's the worst criticism you can lodge against a scene it was probably pretty good. I need to keep my eyes peeled for PJ's cameo, though.
Re: The 2012 Forumshire Awards sponsored by NotP and Buckie
PJ gave us thirteen characters pretending to be dwarves and some of them he made, well, rather hunky. But did it work, did Forumshire drool and go slack jawed at the hunks on display?
Lets find out with Hunkiest Character.
And the winner is......Thorin.
We might not like the character but we'd jump at the chance to go for a drink with him it seems.
It perhaps should be mentioned that despite Fili/kili there was only 1 vote between Thorin and second place...Gollum. Make of that what you will Forumshire!

Yeah, that's the thing about special effects, or at least digital effects. No matter how great they look now, they'll almost always look dated a decade or two down the line. :/

Thorin's not my type but I can see the appeal. I'm glad to see Gollum getting some love, though!
NB I'm really enjoying the insight into which results were close and who second place was. Thanks, Petty!

PJ's films can provoke many a reaction, from delight to complete crabbit meltdown, often in the same scene. But which of the parade of charcaters he gave us this time out did we most want to just grab a hold of and give a right good slap to?
The Character you most want to slap is.......Thorin.
Oh dear, PJ's changes to the character really do not seem to have had a postive effect on Forumshire citizens at all.

...Well, on the other hand, it appears that Thorin provokes rather disparate reactions. Either that or there are just a lot of people who want to ogle him so long as he doesn't say or do anything.
