I really hope not. They already had Aragorn tell that story in the EE of Fellowship, that's good enough for me.

Well he sort of tells the story, its not exactly a detailed account- but the same tale between a made up elf and a dwarf- no thanks. I really, really hope if its based on the Beren/Luthien tale Fili doesnt have to steal the arkenstone to win her hand instead of a silmaril! Mad

What's great about the tale's inclusion in FOTR-EE is that it doesn't need to be a detailed account! Smile

Anyway, the idea of Kili stealing the Arkenstone seems a bit far-fetched even for PJ and Co. (I hope.)

That may be true Eldo- but the positioning of the tale in the book, as the build up to the attack on Weathertop, is so good and atmospheric- hell it even serves that purpose well in bakshi's version.
And in my view PJ's Weathertop is crying out for a proper set up rather than Aragorn just buggering off for no apparent or logical reason and another hobbit eating joke.

Whatever happened to the Bilbo (and then Idril) romance? Is that no longer on the table? Clearly, he'll seduce Tauriel in the dungeons and she therefore helps them escape. He promises to bring her some pretty treasure as a token of his affection and brings her the Arkenstone, DUH! Razz

I was talking about the choice of what imagery was spliced together, not the image quality. Everything about the trailer sequence just worked better for me with regards to the song.

Sorry to ask, but search doesn't work for me: I'm looking for that quote about goblins being like spiders crawling up your leg while orcs are more in your face. Someone working on the film said something like this, and I'm pretty sure someone here quoted it for me already... somewhere?

Also, just saw a TV spot where Cate fiddles with Ian's hair -- we have seen this before but this time it's seen from a different angle, then she's seemingly doing something with Ian's hands (caressing them maybe), then we hear a woman's voice which I think tells Gandalf not to be frightened and that he is not alone. Emphasis on I think -- mentally underline it twice maybe.

It seems possible that these promotional spots might move dialog around... but did I hear this correctly in any case, or sort of correctly? I forgot I had DVR power and the footage went by quickly!
