Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
There was some question about the high frame rate release of The Hobbit a while back, but TORn has now posted a PDF showing theatres that will display the film in high frame rates. The bulk of the list is the US and Canada but there are also an assortment of international theatres at the bottom (including the UK and Norway).

The Hobbit is the first film to be released in theatre in seven formats: HFR 3D, IMAX 3D, IMAX, standard 3D, and 2D, accompanied by Dolby Atmos 64-channel audio or Standard Dolby Surround. We at TheOneRing.net have laboriously compiled this complete list of theatre listings. Peter Jackson intends audiences to see it in HFR 3D w/ Dolby Atmos — the way he filmed it. When deciding to purchase your tickets for the midnight show, look for these theaters!

Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
Sounds like an excuse for a weekend getaway to me.
My standards for movie theatres and especially theatre chains are hopelessly skewed by living in America. There's at least one movie coming to 3000 locations almost every single weekend. The current record is about 4500 theatres. In terms of individual screens it's over 11,000 (a lot of theatres here are multiplexes with up to 20 screens).
After growing up with that it's strange hearing about countries with only a few hundred theatres max.

I would think there would be three thousand films for three thousand locations, assuming one screen per location anyway... but math was never my strong point.
Anyway, sounds crowded. I may wait for the musical on stage, myself.

Well yes, it's 3000 copies of one movie, if you want to be pedantic. (I'd say prints but most distribution is digital these days and I don't know what the proper term is now.)

Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
Haha, no problem Elthir. I assume the original gets locked away in a vault far away from the unwashed theatre-going masses, but I can't be sure.
Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
Actually the actual content is moved onto the physical content medium that can be played by the cinemas by the distributors. The master copy (and its many backups would never be distributed! #themoreyouknow #theface

There's an ad for The Hobbit with a slightly different trailer on the home page of youtube. There's something up with Gollum's eyes at one point, they're wayy to blue

Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
I read this about the actor for Kili. from the official hobbit tumblr. I think they failed with the genre..
Where you know him from: Turner’s no stranger to science fiction. He’s played a vampire (“Being Human”) and is set to play a werewolf in next year’s “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Dori, the strongest dwarf, is played by Mark Hadlow
I think Dwalin looks stronger.. or have I mixed em up?
Re: Countdown to Release [2] SPOILER THREAD
aparently all the dwarves have been in Xena episodes..
Ori is going to write in his journal all the time and Oin is the doctor.

that's insane... but yeah.. our theatre has 6 screens (halls in different sizes) then there is one old one, where the hipsters go. But we too far north to be noticed.. There are theaters about that size in every bi city, although my term for big cities maybe be hopelessly skewed by living in Norway.
