Finally found a copy of the ending song preview that would play for me. It's very different from the ending songs for LOTR so I'm not sure what I make of it. I'll have to see how it works in context. Pretty good though. Smile

They need to get Flight of the Conchords to do at least one song before this is over, though. Very Happy

My 1st feeling was,that its to modern sounding. Until I see the film I cant decide fully. But my gut/heart says.. modern. I didnt go..oooh yeah.. Shocked

link doesn't work for me but as far as the song goes I actually like it. gives me flashbacks of the 77 R&B cartoon version. not the song itself just the tone it presents for the credits... Actually like it alot. and for me that's saying something Twisted Evil

Huh, video was apparently blocked in the time since I posted it because I can't listen to it anymore either. There was a link to a French website circulating that apparently had previews of all the tracks but I couldn't figure out to get that to work either. Mad

Seems like it was only blocked in certain countries. Sometimes rights holders are only able to impose regional blocks on YouTube. Shrugging

its easy listening crap from the D.I.Y section of Homebase. Its a marketing strategy to make men buy shelves in pine, and garden furniture in teak. Its folksy ethnic pan piped shite.

This one recalls more themes from LOTR but with a new twist on it. That doesn't make it bad but is a bit jarring after having listened to the LOTR soundtrack so many times. I enjoy the piece though, don't get me wrong. Smile

Im a bit of a stickler for film music. I close my eyes to listen & gain what I can from the "feel" of the tune. For ME,personally, that usually tells me a fair idea of the film, & I havnt be to far wrong, so far ? (I bet I am THIS time!) I cant put my finger on it,but,theres something "not quite right" about all the tracks Ive heard so far. Praps Im just being silly ? I should view the film 1st. But, if The Hobbit pre-dates LOTRs, I feel it should sound....mmm...not quite so modern-ish ? in places ? Id like to hear more Choral, meaning that if I hear Gregorian Chants, sung by monks, it feels aged, medievil, back in time historically. I can relate to that better. But thats only my opinion.

Azriel, yep I totally get your points about it sounding too modern and not quite right. I really hated that song with Neil wotsizface. I dont want to listen to any more until I see the film, I may change my mind and like the tracks when I see the visuals. That song sounded appalingly bad, IMO.

Proves a point..This ISNT The Hobbit ! This song is all about the dwarves, nothing about Hobbits anywhere ! The lead singer sounds like he crawled out of the 60s, It sounds to "trendy" as well, I really DONT LIKE IT !!
