I realize the buckie does sort of hurt your memory so that neurologically you are impaired a wee big But I am referring to my sad night when i needed to vent some painful feelings. you responded in part'I am so sorry for your pain Leelee- anything I can say will in the end just be words and therefore hollow- but my thoughts are with you and yours.' Oh yes and you said much more to lift my heart. So I stand firm on what I have written.

At any rate, i have a question. These new folk, and hullo glad to see you, are they real or just you or Orwell Petty? It would be so nice to know. Else one makes rather a fool of oneself , don't you think? Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Not sure how far back you are going when referring to 'new folk'. We all suppose Carly is a made up character (and suspect Ally) but there has been no confirmation - just like we are not likely to get confirmation about the origins of Pa Tyrant or Bungo Banks. Other than the Tyrant and Banks clans I think everyone is real.

There is only one of me leelee! (was that a forum wide collective sigh of relief I just heard?). And at the moment we dont even seem to have a single Orwell about let alone more than one. Sad
As far as I know new folks are what they seem- new folks.

Halfwise- are you saying my clan is not real! Mad

Most of the new members are genuine people, and the sock-puppets are usually pretty clear in their continuation of style from someone else. I try to make a point of not outing people but suffice to say we have seen a steady trickle of new faces. Smile

I can guarantee I'm real. However I may not be human. However, if this were Pinocchio that would make me not real. So I may not be real. Hope that clears things up.

So are we going to start voting in mid-December or something, then?

We should probably finalize all the awards and nominees...

I shall put up a list of final awards and nominees on either Sunday or Monday Eldo- for final approval by all.
With voting to start at some point middecember as you suggest.

I will also put up a proposed list for the film awards too- which is trickier to do without having seen the film.
But we can certainly have some ready like Favourite/Least favourite dwarf ect.
And the rest I will have to add to after Ive seen the bloody thing- so there will probably be less time for voitng on the film category than the forum ones.

Yes Orwell is a busy hobbit at he moment sadly but is popping in when he can. But as far as I know all is well with him, just overly busy saving the world or something...

It's a hard job keeping order in a country like Australia, I'm sure. Nod

I appreciate all your work with the Awards, Petty. Thanks so much for staying on top of this. I'll be fairly busy for the next few weeks with finals but if you need help let me know and I'll do my best. BTW, did we ever agree on what exactly we wanted the Creative Corner Awards to look like? If I recall correctly we had a bunch of different ideas for what to do with those.

A preliminary set of film awards sounds like a good idea to me. We can always add a few more once the films are out if necessary. Smile

There is a set of creative croner award suggestions I put up, I will put up what I think will be close to the final one with the rest of the forum awards.
But if we need a week to decide, alter, add or remove from the creative ones that should be ok.
I'll just need to write the ceremony stuff for that bit of the awards a bit later!

BBC George Orwell statue turned down as 'too left-wing'

According to the Labour peer Joan Bakewell, the BBC's director general Mark Thompson turned down the scheme to erect the statue at the BBC's new Broadcasting House "flat", because "apparently George Orwell would be perceived as too left-wing a figure for the BBC to honour". The statue was proposed by the George Orwell Memorial Trust, run by former Labour politician Ben Whitaker, and backed by names including Rowan Atkinson, Melvyn Bragg, John Humphrys, James Naughtie and Orwell's son Richard Blair. More than £60,000 has been raised to have Martin Jennings, the sculptor of the bronze of John Betjeman at St Pancras and of Philip Larkin in Hull, create it.
