Weird. I have no idea- everything seems fine this end. How very annoying. Tried a reboot and trying again? Other than that I have no idea what to suggest. I can try resetting your permsiion if you like, don;t know if it will help or not but might.

Petty's Purist LotR Edits - Page 17 Empty Re: Petty's Purist LotR Edits

Post by Orwell Sat Aug 06, 2011 12:00 pm

Endured another half hour (not you, Petty - it's PJ that I have to endure!) Like how you put Saruman in. A good attempt to put the whole business in at almost the appropriate time - at least it's now near the Council!

Only could endure thirty minutes as I said, I really find it hard to watch the movie. My teeth grind so much at the lost opportunity.

I had a funny experience btw. When Boromir leaves the room with the broken sword you just see Arwen entering in your edit. You cut her out of it there. I don't mind you doing so - but funnily, when I first saw Fellowship in the cinema, it was almost exactly the same moment the film broke and I had to leave the cinema. I'm going to consult a Pychic and see if it means anything.

Gotta say - again - I think you and I should remake the movies. We can definitely use PJ's movie making crew - and even some of his actors -but you and I will have to write and direct. That's only good sense.

Will view more of your edit - but only when the nausea subsides....

Gimli: "...she gave me three." Very Happy and Sad This movie was almost all bad, but not ALL bad! (2.27hrs in - nice place to rest, on a pleasant moment).

The Watcher and the cave troll. You did the best anyone could have done. Well done Petty! Liked the tension in Moria - but maybe you went a tiny wee bit too dark with the lighting.

Galadriel's bit of "over-dramatic colouring up". I'd hope you'd have it removed. The before and after were enough. (I guess it was not in a bit you could just snip out. I truly hate that "colouring" up bit!)

I'll try and endure another hour of pain later today, or tomorrow.

Gotta say, though, you've done a stirling job. Sadly, I keep finding more faults with the storyline which no amount of billiance on your part can rectify.

"2.27hrs in"

Look on the bright side I've saved you over 30mins of stuff thats even worse than what you did watch!
And sadly I can't remove the Galdriel effect- and it would look even worse if I could with her just standing there shaking her arms and shouting her lines. Just awful I agree.

TT is in my opinion better that FotR was in the megaedit- still full of thngs that shouldnt happen or should be different of course, but better. And you will (when you eventually get to the Frodo/Sam bit) get your first taste of the red 'Eye of Sauron' filter.

There were some lovely touches in the movie, the three hairs bit was one. Sure, it was not Tolkien verbatim, but it was Tolkien-esk in my opinion. It certainly captured my feelings about Gimli and Galadriel's relationship. This is something that continues to haunt me. PJ had the right crew and amount of money behind him, but he should have stuck closer to the storyline. When he does, it never fails, he just does not do it anywhere enough.

Exactly my own sadness Orwell. Its a case of what could have been if only they had trusted the source. All the best bits from the films are from the book and all the worst things from PJ- says it all.

I have hoped this would be the case. The narrative should have been easier to do. The beginning of the book (FotR) has a lot of backstory after all. (Mind, I don't excuse PJ for stuffing around with it!)

It was more a matter of refinding the narrative- between PJ's TT and RotK it is there, inbetween the rubbish, just needed brought back together in the books structure.

I have the germ of an idea bout a fantasy movie set simply in a Scottish town (perhaps on a peninsular - almost an island) which involves a little girl, cats, and some mysterious shadowy creatures). All I need is a Director to work on it with me.

Bits of that sound familar. Suspect Although i may know a Director and some camera men, and I definetly know someone with editing tools and some expercience-actors now theres the thing.

I must apply a little more thought to this and email you with some creative bits and pieces. (Thought has been germinating since yesterday - but the Scottish slant has only just popped in - don't know why). Maybe I should write a short book - novella maybe, but with an eye sharply on visuals.
