It's on the sky plus box, waiting to be watched, not sure if I can be bothered, but having got this far I may decide to see it through

If its any consolation the next episode is meant to be a lot better and all about Jack- who otherwise has been largely sidelined. Might be worth perservering, maybe.

If nothing happens again by the end of the next one I will give up I think- although that will be 7 hours of nothing happening! I am begining to wish I had just skipped this and read a summary after it was all finished, it'd take a lot less time and be a lot less painful.
One reason I hang on in there is there may, and thats a very dodgy 'may', be some minor crossover between its events and Doctor Who- as Who starts up when Miracle Day is still running and supposedly there was some back and forth between RTD and the Moff over how the two series fitted together. So painfully I will have to hang on in there I fear just in case.

Well I watched the latest episode of Torchwood. And the good news is it is in my view the best episode yet. Its mainly backstory and character driven which means don't expect to much in the way of plot prgoression, although it is at least relevant and its focused on Jack, who they have up till now sadly negelected.
It will be interesting given the Beeb censored slightly the previous gay sex scene how they will present this episode as it has quite a lot of that and Barrowmans bottom. (They seem to have largely forgotten he is bisexual this series).
Its an odd episode in many ways- as an individual Torchwood episode its good entertaining stuff, as part of the Miracle Story it feels less satisfying. Still a lot better than what has come before it in this series.

Have you seen the prequal clip for the Doctor Who series? Not much info in it, just Amy talking to the doctor.

Coincidently Doctor Who is getting everywhere, was watching you tube clips of supernatural promos for series seven, in the third episode one of the characters is using Amy Pond as an alias!

Torchwood: Miracle Day, inappropriate sexual content, BBC One

Publication date: 8 August 2011

Complaint

We’ve received complaints from some viewers who feel it is inapproprate to show gay sex in Torchwood.

The BBC's response

We have strict Editorial Guidelines which govern the content of our programmes, and Torchwood is no exception. These clearly state:

"In all BBC output the portrayal of sex, or the exploration of sexual issues, should be editorially justified and treated with appropriate sensitivity. In post-watershed content, we must be able to justify the frank and realistic portrayal of sex and the exploration of themes and issues which some people might find offensive."

Captain Jack Harkness is an established character in the series. We felt the content was justified in terms of the context and character and would be within the expectations of regular viewers. We aim to depict relationships whether heterosexual or homosexual in an honest and realistic way. These scenes are not meant to cause offence.

Got to wonder why some people watch Torchwood. If that sort of thing offends why watch a show whose main character is openly bisexual? And given this was in response to episode 3 they would be well advised not to watch the latest episode at all!

As my excitements mounts at the prospect of Who's return on saturday hears some Who based music from Chamellion Circuit. Not all to my tastes but they do all say something about the recent Whoverse.

First up "Still Not Ginger"

"Silence and the End of All Things."

"Eleven"

And lastly "Teenage Rebel"

I lov how they use so many of the actual lines from the show in their lyrics.

Some suggestion from another forum I read that Jack may make an appearance in the series - apparently hey wanted him for 'A good man goes to war' but it clahed with torchwood filming so they couldn't.

Also heard three theories on who is going to die! all reasonable! Very Happy

The Rory one I have been thinking is a decent possibility. He is referred to as a good man- the Doctor explicitly rules himself out in the conversation with eye patch lady "Good Men don't need rules. You do not want to find out why I have so many." So doesn't leave many options unless it someone we've not seen yet- which hasn't been Moffats way so far, clues have always been there.
I think the best possibility for rumour 2 is an amalgimation with 3. The ganger Doctor is quite clearly set up as being an exact copy in every way, a perfect copy in fact. So what if the real Doctor does die but the series continues with ganger Doctor?
Those are my guesses anyhow. I've guessed wrong every time so far however so if I was a betting man I wouldn't bet on me here.

Oooh got a new theory. I was watching back the latest series and thinking about the Silence. I have never been convinced they are actually proper villians and not in some fashion helping. Amy is told 2 things.

1. Firstly in the rest room the Silence there says to her "You will tell the Doctor what he must know. And what he must never know."
Amy assumes (as does the viewer) it is the Doctors death which is being referred to. But we find out later the Silence use a form of posthypnotic suggestion. And what Amy actually tells the Doctor is that she is pregnant.
It is this information which leads to everything else- who River is and Demons Run eventually.

2. When the Silence snatch Amy they do something do her, she is told "You are Amelia Pond. We do you honour. You will bring the Silence, but your part will soon be over....You have been here many days".
Now knowing how the first half of the series concludes the Amy they have captured is Flesh Amy. So do they know that? And more importantly is River the Silence eventually? Is that what they mean by "You will bring the Silence."

Damn you Moffat! No matter how often I watch the episodes it just more intriguing and more full of possibilities, not less!!!

Have you ever got round to this Eldo? Really you simply must.

A piano arrangement of the excellent I am the Doctor and just for the hell of it a short version played on wine glasses just cause they can- always a good reason! And just to round it off the full BBC at the proms version with the full orchestra. Sit back and enjoy.

(I know ive put this up before but hey sue me- its worth it evrytime for the looks on the little kiddies faces when the monsters come out to play!)

Some fav quotes frm A Good Man Goes to War- avery quotble episode.

Thin One: Hello, I'm the Thin One. This is my husband, he's the Fat One.
Lorna: Don't you have names?
Fat One: We're the thin fat gay married Anglican marines. Why would we need names as well?

Thin One: But what's he like? The Doctor.
Lorna: He said, "Run."
Thin One: Just "Run"?
Lorna: He said it a lot.

Arthur: Will I be okay?
Strax: Of course you will, my boy. You'll be up and around in no time. And perhaps one day, you and I shall meet on the field of battle and I will destroy you for the glory of the Sontaran Empire.
Arthur: Thanks, nurse.

Strax: Captain Harcourt, I hope some day to meet you in the glory of battle, when I will crush the life from your worthless human form. Try and get some rest.

Manton: He is not the Devil. He is not a god. He is not a goblin or a phantom or a trickster. The Doctor is a living, breathing man, and as I look around this room, I know one thing. We're sure as hell going to fix that.

Kovarian: The anger of a good man is not a problem. Good men have too many rules.
The Doctor: Good men don't need rules. Today's not the day to find out why I have so many.

Amy: (hears someone at the door) Who's that? Who's there? You watch it, because I am armed and really dangerous, and... cross.
Rory: Like I don't know that.

Strax: Give her to me, human fools. She needs changing.
Amy: I just changed her. I think she might need a feed.
Strax: A feed? Of course. I'll take care of everything.
Rory: Uhh... I really don't think you will, actually.
Strax: I have gene-spliced myself for all nursing duties. I can produce magnificent quantities of lactic fluid!

Vastra: How did this baby....begin?
The Doctor: Oh, you mean...
Vastra: Quite.
The Doctor: Well, how would I know? That's all human and private stuff. It just sort of goes on. They don't put up a balloon or anything.

Amy: Rory, no offense to the others, but, uh, you let them all die first, okay?
Rory: You're so Scottish.

The Doctor: The child is not a weapon!
Kovarian: Oh, give us time. She can be. She will be.
The Doctor: Except you've already lost her, and I swear I will never let you anywhere near her again.
Kovarian: Oh, Doctor, fooling you once was a joy. But fooling you twice, the same way, it's a privilege.

River Song: Demon's Run when a good man goes to war.
Night will fall and drown the sun,
When a good man goes to war.
Friendship dies and true love lies,
Night will fall and the dark will rise.
When a good man goes to war.
Demon's Run but count the cost.
The battles won but the child is lost.

You know I am thinking of witholding the picnic if I can't get Eldo to watch at least one episode of Doctor Who first! Is that fair? Probably not I suppose, but as I say above-its for your own good Eldo- you'll thank me in the end.
(Alright Im not really going to withhold the picnic- if only because its too cruel on Orwell- but if it wasn't for that Eldo.....)
