This is what happens when Im the only Mod around Ally- I dont know how to make decisions beyond do I have another buckie? Yes.
And I agree with you. It did not offend me in the slightest, but if your a parent and your 8 year old hobbit fan stops by here and opens that it might. And I am pretty sure actual nudity is not allowed by our hosts. Not even when its slight or funny- I could be wrong, I am drunk, so if Eldo pops back on he can have the final say and if its ok Norc can put the pic back up and we can put it back where it was in the thread. But until then I'm playing it safe.
Now should I have another buckie? Yes. Nod

It was fairly innocent Eldo- humorous pic of the Queen sitting with a bunch of bekilted Scots Guards, one of whom had it all hanging out- I wasnt sure so erred on the side of caution.

There’s some odd (spoilers!), peculiar (spoilers!) and just plain bizarre (spoilers!) stories coming out of the Hobbit production of late.

That’s why this weekend in Hall of Fire, we’re devoting a session to pondering what’s going through the minds of the brains trust.

Is this sort of thing your nightmare hobbit script scenario? If not, when do you go, “this is too silly for words”?

Or are you of the view that JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit is, itself, so often whimsical or fantastical that additions like the above can only enhance the movie’s light-hearted appeal?

So join us this Saturday, June 16 at 6.00pm EDT (New York time), when we’ll discuss all this and much more as we look at the latest Hobbit movie rumours

torn actually admits that these new spoiler thingies is worth worrying!

those TORners say a second trailer is imminent, and it will be 2 minutes 24 seconds long, it is 'G' rated. The bets are on which film its attached to. It could be Brave or Dark Knight Rises, Any thoughts guys? It should be out in about a week.

I think even the most ardent PJ fan must be having their faith tested now if they are also an ardent Tolkien fan- the two just dont gel and increasingly so.

Faith is blind but Blind faith were a cool band and I forget where I'm going with this but I think PJ can do a good job (though would you class me as an ardent Tolkien fan? Possibly not)

I'd like to see a bit of news that isn't a departure from the Hobbit. I'm mean seriously Everytime someone posts a link to news, I hold my breath waiting to see what Jackson has done.
This movie is a real test to see if Jackson is a fan of Tolkien. The Hobbit is very filmable as is. There might need to be a change here or there, but nothing substantial. It seems as though Jackson can't help himself. It makes me wonder if he even likes the Hobbit.

At least with the trilogy, it looked visually pleasing.
The dwarves, Thorin's Pip-boy 3000, Radagast's bunnies, Dain's boar and all this 48fps stuff is baffling to me. Not very Middle Earth.

Spoiler:

It looks like a throwaway set that may only get used for 10 seconds or less, as somebody walks up the stairs and knocks on the door for example. Only the right half of the tall building with the stairs has been built, and there's no front at all on the building to its right. All the rest is going to be added with CGI later. Possibly the poor part of Laketown where Bard and friends live, in contrast to the mayor and his cronies. It doesn't look half bad to me.

I'm curious why this particular picture rates spoiler tags, though, when all the other pictures and news from the set don't; axes, fat suits, elven bimbos, crypts, bunnies, pigs and all! Isn't it bit late to start now? Rolling Eyes

well, you called an expert! Not very vikingy really, but it looks familiar, so I'm getting the feeling of a nordic, well-worn, fishing village and it does have some artistic detailing, so maybe a bit vikingy Wink It's a bit too dark wooden for me, but it probably is just impregnated with tar, which you do with bulidings who are supposed to stand the weather. Mrs Figg, it does look a bit like the church, but I don't think there are any inspiration from it, as the stav-chirch is build in a certain way with no nails or something which we have all forgotten how, but the roofs are narrow, so yeah. I think they are tall and narrow to give the impression that they are exploiting hight, since they can't go that much sideways.

i think it looks good Smile

I just hope their boats look like this.

there are smaller ones without the "house" thing and you can ofcourse row them. They are very easy to row because they are very narrow. But I bet no one in NZ can build 'em sadly..

35 meters long, 8 m wide. Hopefully a nice American will come along and translate the measurements into football fields, tennis courts or bottles of coca cola. Nod
