Questions for the Lore Masters. - Page 10 Empty Re: Questions for the Lore Masters.

Post by Elthir Fri Jan 04, 2013 6:27 pm

Just kidding before. This is awesome! This is my most important post since my last post before those posts that were really only kidding that this wasn't huge.

This is the Holy Grail of horse quotes, like finding Jason's Grey Fleece, like finding the Sapling in the Snow. This is like discovering shampoo and conditioner in the same bottle!

Well, it's like these things only because I hadn't found it earlier I guess. Unless I already posted this and forgot. But anyway, ladies and gentle farmers, I give you, with first some High Elvish to mark the event…

Yé! utúvienyes!

I have found…

… a brown pony in a later text! Even in a text that Tolkien once intended to be part of The Lord of the Rings...

'Mr. Meriadoc says he does not know how many horses were lost; but there are more than ever in Rohan now, because no one steals them any longer. The Riders also have many ponies, especially in Harrowdale: white, brown, and grey. Next year…'

JRRT, The Epilogue, version II

Let the festivities begin. Well except for me. All this excitement and especially false non-excitement has made me a bit sleepy. Plus the trip to Okinawa with Eldo and what with numbering all those potatoes that David sent me by express Dwarf carriage.

Wait a second, white brown and grey again in the same sentence… David?

Nope too late. ZZZZZ.

The potatoes were a mix of light and dark browns.

Why did you wake me up for that? OK, some were slightly reddish too. I admit it.

OK now I'm...

more hungry,
slightly annoyed [at missing out on buckie-based chips I assume],
still sleepy,
somewhat puzzled in general,

and partly behorsed.

Well, Jackson's Radagast could use a bottle or three, in my opinion.

Cranberry coloured or made of cranberries? And more importantly what shade of cranberry?

Also Elthir- The Riders also have many ponies, especially in Harrowdale: white, brown, and grey.

This does not, definitvely in my view state that the horses were individually those colours- they could be patchwork from this sentence.

If so the news would still be slightly more than astounding, as we would still have some brown colouring on a horse attested in a later source.

And as for that interpretation: it's possible I guess, but I would also recommend you check your recent buckie stock, as I think some Dwarf might have sprinkled a measure of funny mushroom dust in your latest brew.

cyclops

And what about HT and 'white, grey, brown' for the same Horse? David?

Really? But basically all I did was post about horse colours and Glorfindel all year Very Happy

Thanks to anyone who voted for me (and I'm assuming this includes uncles and aunts and cousins to help put me over the top. And voters that I paid).

I am very happy. Now I can afford new buttons for my weskit! There is a cash prize with the honour, I assume.

And thanks for letting me know Mrs Figg!

Congratulations on a well-deserved win, Elthir! Very Happy I'm not voting for you again until you post your analysis of 50 Shades of Grey, though. Mad

You're very welcome. Very Happy There are two threads this year, both in the Site Issues forum here. The results are here:

http://www.hobbitmovieforum.com/t544-the-2012-forumshire-awards-sponsored-by-notp-and-buckie

And your award in particular is here (comments and congratulations spill over to the next page too):

http://www.hobbitmovieforum.com/t544p75-the-2012-forumshire-awards-sponsored-by-notp-and-buckie#57944

Smile You can join us for the Film Awards this afternoon/evening when they resume (7 PM GMT / 2 PM US Eastern). Petty had to take a break last night, presumably due to over-buckie-fication.
