Militant Fundamentalism ---- err... sounds like Muslim Terrorism... Will there be an Western outcry, or will we excuse our own Monsters actions away, just like too many Muslims do? Petty, you forgot to mention all Religions btw --- what about Commutheism and Socialtheism and Facistheism? Religions don't need Gods as such. I suppose if we were to use the term Militant Ideologues, we'd cover all these nut cases...

"Petty, you forgot to mention all Religions btw"- Orwell

Quite right! I stand corrected. I am equally crabbit and capable of drunken ranting about every religion, without favour and all the -isms.

According to the BBC news the nutter responsibile for the atrocities in Norway has said his actions were "gruesome but necessary", and said he would explain himself at a court hearing on Monday.
That should be an interesting hearing. Not sure there is a way you can dress up "I killed a lot of innconcent people especially the young to make a stupid point".
And if the speculation on the BBC is right it is a stupid anti-muslim point.

Apparently the Norway Nutter (as I shall henceforth refer to him) had put up stuff online including a youtube vid and a document he'd written, sadly the BBC news doesn't give the content beyond saying it referred to multi-culturalism and the Knights Templar (which the BBC goes on to say are often refrenced by White Supremists) Why? I know a fair a bit of Templar history and they were not racist (religous yes) they were one of the worlds first global buisness with offices abroad! And by the end they were not even anti-Islam but were very fond of it and especially its sacred geometry and numbers.
I wish nutters would think their reasoning out a bit more before going all crazy ass on us. But then I suppose thats what makes them nutters in the first place.

So Norway Nutter is claiming he was working with at least two other Nutters. Worrying if true. Means there's at least 2 more of the buggers out there somewhere.

Very worrying. There's also a possibility that there are more explosives out there too - there are still some missing artificial fertilizers that haven't been accounted for.

The news pictures of the Nutter sitting smiling in the back of a car on the way to court turned my stomach. I'm not an advocate of the death penalty- its too easy and lets them off, but I am in favour of locking him up and throwing away the key and once every so often 'accidently' leaving him where other prisoners can display their views!

On another note, what the hells going on in the US with the budget malarky?- playing fast and loose there not just with the US economy but with every western economy. From the outside it just looks like the Republicans are doing everything they can to not agree to anything Obama says, even if it means selling their own country out in the end to do it.
Hows this going down in the US?

Had to smile seeing Vince Cable UK buisness secretary on CBS evening news being quoted in an interview saying the bggest financial threat to the world economy was America facing a default because of "a few right wing nutters holding the process to hostage". Classic.

Therre are some mad folks out there it seems.

'Mario Borghezio, who belongs to the Northern League party, condemned Mr Breivik's violence, but backed his stance against Islam...."Some of the ideas he expressed are good, barring the violence. Some of them are great," Mario Borghezio told Il Sole-24 Ore radio station.
He agreed with Mr Breivik's "opposition to Islam and his explicit accusation that Europe has surrendered before putting up a fight against its Islamicisation".

You'd think Mussolini wasn't so long ago they would have forgotten already. Evil or Very Mad

I am not even sure what to say to this. Why on earth would anyone not only put this poor women through such an ordeal but then punish her further. Where is the compassion in justice?

'A mother has been convicted of killing her four-year-old son after he died in a hit-and-run in the US because she crossed the road with her children at the wrong place.
Raquel Nelson had faced up to three years in prison - longer than the driver responsible for her child's death who served only six months behind bars.
However, the 30-year-old received a 12-months probationary sentence after the case caused public uproar in America.
Ms Nelson's son was killed in April last year when he was knocked down by a van after slipping from his mother's grasp as they crossed the road to get from a bus stop to their apartment building in the city of Marietta , north of Atlanta.
The distraught mum was also injured in the incident along with her young daughter.
Ms Nelson was subsequently prosecuted under the offence of jaywalking, which dictates that it is illegal to cross the road anywhere other than at a designated crossing point....
Her lawyer, David Savoy, said the driver was drinking and had taken painkillers on the night of the accident and was mostly blind in one eye.
He also had a prior conviction for a hit-and-run accident.
"For vehicular homicide in the second degree you don't have to be driving a vehicle," Mr Savoy explained.
"It requires that you caused the death of another. She 'caused' the death of another. How tragic is that?"
Judge Kathryn Tanksley, who also ordered the defendant to perform 40 hours of community service and pay a $50 (£30) fine, invoked a little-used Georgia state law to offer her a new trial at the end of a hearing in which character witnesses and spectators wept.
Ms Nelson's lawyer and other character witnesses described her as an exemplary mother shattered by the accident for which she blamed herself.
She thanked the court but refused to say whether she would accept the offer of a new trial.'

She shows far more dignity than the legal sytstem does. The more I think about this the more crabbit I get. Evil or Very Mad

Landmark court case here in the UK today. The courts have found in favour of film companies in cases against sites providing access to illegal downloads. The courts have ordered that British Telecom (and by extension all other service providers) are responsible and have to block access to such sites.
Whilst there are arguments on both sides to copyright issues and piracy this sets a potentially dangerous precedent. How long till the government decide that certain sites are 'extremitist', 'obscene' etc and are blocked too and where does it stop? Will we end up with a UK equivelent to China's internet wall?
There has been of late a long, and very sneaky procession of laws, seemingly about diverse things, all of which in the end are leading to curbing the freedom of the internet- and I don't like the general direction it is heading in. And I doubt its all coincidence either. Evil or Very Mad
I think this is a bad day. The revolutions across the Islamic word have not helped either, given the prominence of civil unrest organised online there and I think Western governments have taken a good note of this and the potential dangers a free internet presents to a governments controls.

Too much crap and too little time.

Norway Nutcase is not a Muslim, much to the chagrin of the US media. Norway Nutcase is not a "Lone Gunman," defeating the US media's fallback narrative. (Conspiracies are apparently only committed by Muslim terrorists, not Corporate Friendly Christian Neo-Nazi Terrorists).

Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, my internet service is being cancelled. Crying or Very sad This may be my last post for a bit. But I will be popping by the library to check emails a couple of times a week. I'll try and drop a quick line when I'm there.

I finally got on Facebook a few weeks ago. Look for me as Gandalf's Beard if you're on board. I won't be able to update very regularly until I get Internet service back. But you can see what I've been up to the past few weeks if you check out my personal wall.

Good work Eldo- when I get a chance I will sift through the BBST and split off a few more- Conspiracies and Alternative History springs to mind as an obvious thread- any other subjects I find that are long enough to split off I will do likewise with- but might take me a day or two to get round to it!
