Re: Tales of Home [1]
I've always loved those smugglers, Azriel. I think it goes back to an old Walt Disney serial called The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh that captured my imagination when I was a very little kid. It was the creepiest thing I'd ever experienced! I made my own scarecrow costume that was apparently so pathetic that my mom took pity and made me a better one. I think I can still sing most of the theme song. I'm almost afraid to track it down and watch it now in case it doesn't hold up to my memory.

Re: Tales of Home [1]
Yeah, I guess from a parent's point of view there are worse things that a son could be doing than hanging silently on a pole in a field trying to look intimidating.
I just googled the Disney series. It starred Patrick McGoohan and was re-edited as a movie for UK release under the title "Dr Syn: alias the Scarecrow". Anybody seen it?
The reviews actually sound quite good for Disney fare. And it seems to be recently out on DVD. Unfortunately they seem to want $350 for it.

Re: Tales of Home [1]
It's on Netflix, and I grabbed it for my queue. But it's way near the bottom, I'm sure you could order it and bump it up top (I don't doubt there's only one copy).

Correction, Netflix knows of it, but doesn't have it available. If enough of us order it perhaps it will become available?

Where do small towns come up with the money for looks like star wars type structures?
Are those reindeer? They look happy, or at least as happy as anyone could be expected to look with a dude attached to your behonkus.

The Dubai of Fyordlandia?
Actually, Dubai doesn't get it's money from oil, not directly. It gets its money from being a socially open state in the midst of Arab oil states.

I love the snowy pic you put up, the 1st one above the racing reindeer ! Love the reindeer also ! where you live looks so modern & it feels like its "going somewhere" culturally. Tho, is there any time of the year when your not snowed under ?

Yeah, in the North, Spring is the time when all the bottles, candy wrappers, lost car keys, dog poo and general filth that has been conveniently disappearing into the snow all Winter, suddenly comes back to haunt you all at once, right?

Re: Tales of Home [1]
wow, you get it David!!!!!!!!! you have no idea how dirty everything is! like, we have nails in the tires in winter and it rips the asfalt apart, we have to change it every other year so you can imagen the amount of dust in the air in spring when you can't change to summer-tires yet because it might snow/be icy roads. god i hate it. also, funfact, 8th april one is supposed to change, last date sort of, but that clearly only goes for like.. the southern part, cause in beginning of april we almost set a record in snow depth, about 1 meter and 50-60ishxD

I quite enjoy the ambience & atmosphere of an old church or cathedral. Its just so relaxing ! after Ive chilled out & in a partial coma, I poodle around to look at the architecture, stain glass windows & the tombs of dead bodkins.
