Re: Sherlock - BBC
- Steve Moffat on how long it will take for season 3… Sherlock Holmes is off battling Captain Kirk, Doctor Watson is helping Gandalf and I’m in the TARDIS.
Re: Sherlock - BBC
I wish some techno whizz kid would find me series 2, I really want to see it and really not have to pay Amazon for the dvds. I am so cheeky what!

Re: Sherlock - BBC
I know, but it was all see through and I couldnt watch it so I was hoping.......oh well I had better buy a dvd player, order the dvds from Amazon, pay a ton of money, wait ages to get them, go to the shop and buy the dvd player, fiddle with the dvd player, get frustrated cos I cant work it, get someone probably a bloke to sort it out for me, and by then a couple of years may have passed and dvds are no longer used.....

Re: Sherlock - BBC
Does Dailymotion work for you? I have a dailymotion link. Alternatively, you could consider simply accidentally downloading the episodes from a hosting provider...
Anyway, S2 of Sherlock was superb!

It was the dailymotion link I already put up for her Ally- but she says it doesnt play. Have you tried it since Mrs Figg? Perhaps it was just a weird clitch as it seems to work for others.

If you can't play Dailymotion I'd say most flash based video sites aren't going to play either MF. If you have a poor internet connection I'd suggest the torrent option (wait a few days) but I'm not sure what this forum's stance on such matters are. Or just search for the .avi file on google. Good luck!!!

Re: Sherlock - BBC
We cant put up links to torrents Ally as they are legally highly contentious and dubious and our hosts would not like it. We can link to video hosting sites like youtibe, dailymotion as the legal responsibility is on the uploader and the host site.

You just KNOW that Megavideo would have had Sherlock, plus that used to let you download the video directly to your hd. If only s2 was released a few months earlier...

And thats why it isn't about anymore!
Mrs Figg it is very odd you can watch youtube but not dailymotion- they are basically the same thing. Very odd.
Is your Flash Player up to date? (And I await your reply to that with due trepidation )

and the dailymotion thingy works now, I twiddled some knobs on my control panel and flipped a few gaskets, much steam and gas ensued but it seems to be chugging along nicely thank you.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
Petty what order are the episodes so I dont miss any out, the first is Belgravia, and then Baskerville, whats after that? do they have all the episodes on Dailymotion?
It was fabulous, I do love Martin and his subtle acting.

- Spoiler:
- I thought the ending was a bit of a cop out though, it would have been more tragic and romantic if she had been decapitated, call me an old romantic if you will.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
The Reinbach Falll is the final episode Mrs Figg-Baskerville is ep 2. And it was on dailymotion-hopefully still is.
- Spoiler:
- I have very mixed feelings about the ending- in the book she is the only women to not only be Holmes' intillectual equal but who beats him- him rescuing here is a bit of a change from that and I think probably diminshes her somewhat.

I would never call you old, Mrs Figg, and if you consider decapitation romantic I would probably be wise to never call you at all!

Re: Sherlock - BBC
so are there only 3 episodes then? wow thats short.
- Spoiler:
- It was like the Brett version until he rescued her, in Bretts version it was a tragic doomed unspoken love affair from afar and he never saw her again, you felt his pain, but if he rescues her it means they could meet again easily, it ruins the ending in my opinion you are supposed to think that Holmes has this unrequited love for The Woman who he will never see again., not that they can text and meet up for larks in foreign lands.
- Spoiler:
- Dont worry Dave you wont be joining the Headless Hunt

Re: Sherlock - BBC
They only ever have done 3 episodes per series- but then they are feature length so basically they make 3 films a series.
- Spoiler:
- I agree with what you say Mrs Figg- its their necessasry seperation that makes it so heartbreaking- for me that ending is avery rare Moffat misstep and th eonly flaw in what I otherwise consider a damn near perfect episode. PLus it smacks a bit of the poor women needs rescued by the heroic man after all- which in the book she most definetyl did not. She maks her own choices, even the hard ones.

Re: Sherlock - BBC
- Spoiler:
- Yes, making Irene Adler a dominatrix was pure Moffat, and sheer brilliance. Bringing out the manipulative aspects rather than the naive stereotypical cruelty of the profession was what made the character sing. I think Moffat just couldn't bring himself to kill off such a great character.
