Re: Tales of Home [9]
There's a building on our campus which, for no evident reason, has a long narrow tower with a sort of crown on top, and at the foot of it are two large oval doors. You have to wonder if the architect has any brain at all, or was quietly giggling to himself while drawing the damn thing.

Figg! Pardon the tardiness. I do not have in specifics, as I did not stay in a hotel while there, but if you want to stay in the city try Gracia, less tourists and traffic.

Yes, it is central, and close to the older parts of the city, but far more relaxed, far less touristic, and far more the Barceona of the people who actually live there. Oh, and largely independentist.

Its a power thing. "Man" uses his old chap as a bloody big sword when he hasn't got a bloody big sword. Its meant to show he's one dude you better not mix with & for some reason having a walloping big willy instead of say, a big foot ? huge ears ? sends the message home. Look at the size of Henry V111's cod piece, in paintings & his suit of armour ! really ? I bet he had an inky winky one, uhuh

{{He's back, and getting bigger....off my garden!!!
Seems on good terms with the neighbourhood cats too, lucky it wasnt my oldest cat Keira, she has become a tad crabbit in her old age, well more crabbit than when she was younger and would probably have chased it! (she goes for dogs of any size on sight)
Typically they were both more annoyed at me for taking their picture! }}

{{ You should hear them in rutting season (Stags bark, sort of like big dogs but much louder and throatier, then you just hear a huge clacking sound, like two trees colliding in a storm, and that's the stags running full tilt at each other head down, and whacking antlers together to impress a lass! ) And I dont want that in my bloody back garden of a morning! }}

Re: Tales of Home [9]
Like goats. When I was in Africa I had a bit of a veranda and the goats liked to rut on there all night. It wasn't just their vocalizations but their hooves skittering across the concrete and bodies slamming into walls. I didn't get any sleep until I had some kids make a gate. And they both rut AND crap.
I still think goats are cute, but they need barriers.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
Id rather that than the "rutting" of grown yobo's coming out the pubs & clubs, bottle in hand, on a Friday or Saturday night. Each showing off their colours, daring the other to get entangled in their horns. Made worse of course by screaming women who are either wanting it to stop or wanting to see a blood bath. One set is covered in fur & hooves, the other in Nike's & Hugo Boss.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
At first I thought the wind was blowing some bits of tree around.... then I noticed the bits of tree were moving.
A minute later the entire road outside the house was filled by a swarm of honey bees!! 1000s of the bloody things.
They are now consolidating themselves on a wall nearby. Apocalypse averted.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
I've been in the middle of a field when a swarm came through and no place to hide. Only thing to do was lie down flat on the ground with my face to the earth and shirt pulled up over my head as the passed by. When they're swarming they're carrying all their baggage so they can't fly far for long, only a series of short hops, and so they land all over you to rest for a bit as they pass. The experts say they won't sting while they're swarming unless you do something really stupid (like panic ) but it's still pretty creepy to be unexpectedly covered in hundreds of bees for a couple minutes.....
