Re: Tales of Home [9]
No Forest, We don't get much snow really, not for many years. As time has gone by snowy Winters are slowly becoming a thing of Legend, at least down here in the Southern part of the UK. Go up to Yorkshire & further & its still a Winter Wonderland. Ireland have had a big share of Winter pummelling & Scotland is still King of the snow in UK terms

We are lucky that we get such colourful sunsets & sunrises. Beautiful pics there Petty !! Lifts my mood when I see a heavenly sunrise. A clear inky blue night sky with bright diamond blinking stars & a full moon, & silence, that's magical

My dad's in the cold, back in Minnesota, but California is nice and balmy in comparison.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
Ive seen lots of pics & vids on facebook about the dreadful weather you guys are getting ! I'd die ! I hate Winter, I hate the cold ! How you cope is a mystery to me. That's why I get so fed up with the British making a fuss when one tiny snow flake flutters down !

It has been cold here in Utah, but nothing compared to the Midwest. I can't believe the weather they are getting.

{{Been frosty here, thin layer of snow and night time temperatures ranging from 0 to -20 in the Highlands. Round my bit only got as low as -5. Still a bugger seeing as I work nights.

These first three was just a cool lighting effect I thought. Its quite weird if you zoom right in on it as it looks like the fog is writhing up toward the sky, almost like loads of water spouts.
Most of the white stuff has gone now thanks to a slight temp increase and overnight rain, but did nab these couple of pics yesterday before the melt-

The closeups of the snow are interesting. Given the tree like structure I'd think some of it grew in place overnight.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
We have had a week of wonderful warm & sunny weather ! its been amazing. So, I took my dog on the beach today even tho he's none too keen on the sea. I could only take 2 pics on my mobile as the darn battery died. The day started really frosty then it soon perked up...

You're walking distance from the beach? Never got that impression before.

Re: Tales of Home [9]
I'm around a hour's walk from the beach (not a beachfront/seaside but a beach nonetheless) might go for a walk down there next week and snap some pics myself...
https://www.thebeachguide.co.uk/south-west-england/hampshire/meon-shore-photos.htm
Hill Head/Solent Breezes are along the same stretch of coast as well, been a while since I've gone for a long walk down there, we often get big flocks of birds sheltering there over the winter, and I've found some large jellyfish washed up on the shire before now, IIRC some basking sharks were spotted here a few years back as well.

I went over there for the day last year with my girlfriend, The Isle of wight still has its old fashioned quaint charm (and seems to have a nicer climate/weather than the mainland these days) but I can understand why it's the tourist trap it once was, I think the recession hit it har and it never really recovered. I spent most of m childhood holidays staying on the Island and still have many fond memories, walking along the beach at Shanklin, visiting the arcade/mini golf in Sandown, fish and chips in Ryde etc...
Ah nostaglia...

Ah yes the waxworks museum, it closed a few years back but I can still remember how terrfying some of the models were, looks like they reopened a smaller version of it last year:
