Once you get 20+ you really get to appreciate the enthusiasm for little kids' games of imagination. Just offer bits and pieces now and then and buy into it and you can have a great time!

{{First storm of the season rolling into Scotland as I type- due to hit proper later today, fortunately doesn't sound too bad, so far-

{{UK is kind of split on metric- we still weigh stuff in stones and pounds and we still tend to measure height in feet in inches and distance in miles, but we measure liquids by the litre.

Bit windy here jut now, sea's looking interesting too, high tide will be quite the swell I think judging on this picture taken by a friend on the ferry earlier- }}

I have friends working on both the Alaska State Ferries and the Washington State Ferries. They're required to chain the cars down to the deck chocks on days like that. Otherwise you know somebody will forget to set the hand brake.... pale
If a car gets free and starts playing "loose cannon", careening off of its neighbors and getting them moving, then one by one the cars start shifting and piling up on whatever is the low side, causing the ferry to list more, which then causes more cars to break free. It can look like a very expensive junkyard when you finally get into port Evil or Very Mad

Started cranberry harvest today. Long day. I can feel it!
We'll be going pretty much steady now till Oct 31.
Then we'll hibernate,
'cause that's what farmers do.
