Re: Game of Thrones [2]
is that vid spoilery?
- Spoiler:
- got to say there were some very nice moments in ep 2, my favourite was Arya and Nymeria, I was confused about the last thing she said, "its not you" but it refers back to season 1, when Arya was talking to Ned about becoming a lady, and Arya said, "its not me", and its not in Nymerias nature to be domesticated either. I also liked the battle with Euron and I reckon Yara and Ellaria Sand will be given to Cercei as a little present. Poor Jorah though, where was the milk of the poppy?

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
That vid was just the 30 second spot GoT put out to tease people to watch the next one. So no more spoilery than a whiff of apple pie.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
jon should have beaten the living shit out of theon. dammmit. loving the arya and sansa dynamic. they're still sister, but they were never close. they seem closer, yet not somehow. they are even more different now and they're dynamic isn't easy. but there is somehow a new respect between them, something grown up about it. yet i still get that feeling that they are kinda cousins that used to be really close but have grown up and become so different from one another that it is difficult to find common ground. i like that nuance over it. because it makes sense. they wouldn't be besties right away.

I am enjoying Arya and Sansa too, bit worried about Littlefinger though stirring it up. Its all good stuff.

Zoom!
Whooosh!
nnnnnnNNNNNGH-WHOOOoooooo....
Oh sorry, that was just the sound of all the characters this season making tracks. Lots of ground to cover as they criss-cross the continent in very little time indeed!
I do hope Littlefinger get his butt kicked by Arya with Sansa's approval. I don't think I can stomach the Starks being outsmarted by him once again.
Oh my gosh that Gendry joke! Haha how ridiculous. "I thought you might still be rowing." Yeah no kidding Davos. Do you guys realize that we haven't seen Gendry since Season 3?!
And then they give him the world's largest warhammer. Sheesh.
I mean, just look at how unbalanced it is. Imagine trying to smoothly swing that thing without the head twisting around. Weapons that are balanced around a central shaft need... well to be balanced. Just like a tool. I mean, check out these common tools. What do they all have in common?
They are all well-balanced around the handle! If you take one of these tools and roll the haft in your hands, the metal portion of the tool will rotate evenly. It's balanced.
Even something like a hatchet or a single-bit axe has enough metal in the butt to mostly balance out the blade. This makes for an effective tool.
Weapons like warhammers must be the same because they are basically being used for the same action: swinging and hitting something. That warhammer is not balanced. The amount of metal in the head is several times greater than in the spike. It's simple enough physics, what happens if Gendry actually swings this hammer: the mass of the huge head has greater inertia than the spike, so it will want to rotate around the haft to the side that is away from whatever Gendry is swinging to hit.
And once Gendry actually does hit something with the spike, the head's greater inertia means that it will take longer to slow down. So first the head will twist around during the swing away from the target, and then once the target is hit the head will want to twist around again toward the target. Overall, this will make it very difficult for him to wield this weapon without the haft constantly twisting around in his hands.
Perhaps the head is hollow or made of a much ighter metal (like what??), but I still don't understand why the head is shaped like some kind of wobbly divot-pounder.
Whooosh!

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
yep its a horrible looking comedy war hammer thingie, too bulbous and silly.
I guess we have to suspend reality when it comes to travelling round Westeros.
I hope its a double double cross on Aryas part, but I don't want her to be outsmarted by him.

Yeah I think if Arya is outsmarted by Littlefinger I may have to go kick a tree.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
Love the rant about the warhammer. But you see....it's plastic encrusted foam. Problem solved.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
I think Arya is letting Little Finger think he has outsmarted her. Brand no's.

i want Arya to kick littlefinger in the nuts.
also totally agree with the warhammer rant, since you've now pointed it out. what a trule stupid weapon. imagine holding that?!
Re: Game of Thrones [2]
I think Arya has learnt to survive physically, but I am not too sure about the complexity of Littlefingery because he is a true master of double crossing and is a lot older and wiser, but once Arya finds out he betrayed her dad, its curtains for him. At the end of the day Arya would choose to protect Sansa and deep down she loves her sister, they both know Littlefinger is a snake.
I really enjoy the Sam and Gilly subplot as well. he doesn't know he is now Lord Tarly. and Prince 'Ragger'
theres a lot of great character work this season.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
Found it. Wow.
- Spoiler:
- but it makes sense - otherwise the rest of the story seems pretty well mapped out: dragons fly around and burn white walkers. Deux ex machina. They've pretty much wiped out that sense of certainty.

Re: Game of Thrones [2]
I'll be damned!
but it's not quite true. I can have a green oval gemstone. Oval green gemstone sounds not quite right.
