Well, it's amazing how you can just look things up on maps these days - bless google for starting that trend. That's a huge shopping center you're in, I have to give them credit for making it look like you're sitting outside!

Saw this on Facebook & its one of the things that makes me want to pack a bag & fook off, The world is an amazing place & we need to experience & enjoy the natural things before "we" fuck it all up forever. There's so much out there & Ive only seen a snippet. I often feel humans are way too materialistic & are blinkered or blinded to whats right there.

Is a sun halo kind of like a sun dog?

They sound swedish
You shouldn't worry about feeling the world is going to the dogs, it is not a new thing
In Book III of Odes, circa 20 BC, Horace:
Our sires' age was worse than our grandsires'. We, their sons, are more
worthless than they; so in our turn we shall give the world a progeny yet more
corrupt.
You might have a point about the world however

I didn't think Glamdring and Orcrist were meant to look that different from each other.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
I just had a lovely surprise when I opened my blinds for the first time today and saw that it's snowing and there's already closet to two inches layered on the back deck! There's nothing quite like the first snow of the season, and that it's happening in early December (which is quite early by Maryland standards) means that there might still be hope for a White Christmas after all.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
That was the same snow that got me a day late to New Orleans!

Re: Tales of Home [8]
Ah, well, that's what I get for not paying very close to attention to the weather forecast. I wasn't expecting a single storm to hit everywhere from Louisiana to Maryland.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
Yeah they go a light dusting in New Orleans. Freaked them all the hell out.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
So I think I can switch from the "crabbit" thread to this thread.
Went out to my favorite oyster house. Not that I like raw oysters at all, but this place has such a wonderful feeling to it as you sit and chat with the shuckers as they open the biggest damn oysters you can imagine. Before this I'd only had 2 raw oysters. One was in the famous oyster bar in Grand Central Station, and I nearly gagged on it. Another was about a week ago in the japanese bar near me (I suppose I should post those pictures) and the single Cape Cod oyster I had was so clean and fresh I could actually get into it.
But these were huge scary buggers. Reminded me of the early history of New York, when somebody said eating one of the New York oysters was like swallowing a newborn baby. So I opted for the roasted oysters instead, and they were phenomenal. I had them with a sazerac. Then I got up my courage and ordered some specialty oysters: lean and sleek and clean. Had those with a small batch bourbon sampler.
Then I got up my courage and ordered the bill, and decided it was time to leave.
I'll have to post some pictures, especially of the girl a few stools over who was given a free oyster by the shuckers, one roughly the size of Utah. She ate it in one brave gulp.
But I have an appointment in Lafitte's Blacksmith Bar to find out what are the weekend hours when the piano player starts. Time for me to get moving. They have a grand piano covered with candles, just sopping in candle wax, with someone who plays and sings. A bar is constructed around it. Even the women can do impressions of Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful Life" in New Orleans. I want to be there before it starts or it may fill up and I'll miss my seat. Can't have that.

That all sounds wonderful the way you've described it. Pics would be nice ? If you can.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
Alright. Here's a few pics. I may eventually upload videos which capture things much better.
roasted oysters
The shuckers gave her a free oyster the size of a hand. I was a second late capturing it. The reason for this is you need to zoom up on the guy next to her. Again I was too late but you catch the end of a classic expression.
Here's the piano player. the whole top of the piano is covered with candles, and we sit around it with our drinks.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.
