Is he dratted because of the ornery look in his eye?

I have the Tate Modern building between me and the river. About a 2 minute walk to the water.

that's a nice area Lance, I know it quite well. Isn't it near to the Barbican? seem to remember it is, but could be wrong.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
The big nor'easter that hit starting tonight was getting hyped up for days and supposedly there are places in northeast PA/north Jersey that are gonna get three feet of snow or more, but so far it's been fairly tame here in northeast MD. Snowfall seemed to have paused around 3 AM with maybe two inches on the ground, if that, but it could start up again. The winter storm warning stays in affect until 2 PM, but most of the snow is supposed to fall during the night. They were calling for at least 8 inches in my area, though we're right on the boundary line for the accumulation predictions.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
Norc's back! Hiya Norc!
Yeah, our storm hooked up towards the NW. Disappointing not least because I have my sister's family visiting from texas, and the younger kid has never had a chance to really play in snow before.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
Hey Norc!
The storm turned into freezing rain sometime before 5 AM but it only lasted a couple more hours after that. So the snow was wet and heavy while shoveling, but there wasn't very much of it. Maybe four inches or so? Definitely not the next snowpocalypse for us. Apparently the Poconos did in fact get as much as predicted, but that's pretty far away. The county's department of emergency management sent out robocalls with warnings about road conditions and potential power outages, but even our out-of-the-way suburban side street has been plowed already, and if there were any power outages we weren't affected.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
there was enough snow for the kids to go sledding, and the wind died down enough so it wasn't painful to be outside. So all-in-all, I'll convert my 'bust' into a 'success'. Even if the youngest froze her toes and fingers so much she had to be carried home and put in a warm bath...but that was because she was too excited to complain when she should have!

Re: Tales of Home [8]
It's so quiet around here now. For the past week and a half I've had my sister's little blonde things scampering about, spewing chaos in their wake. I keep finding footprints in the most unusual locations. I'm left with four unmatched gloves, all of them mine. Toilet paper evaporated; a whole bottle of shampoo vaporized; two blocks of cheese and a loaf of bread stricken from existence.
I'm always amazed at how parents can deal with kids on such a constant basis. I loved them when I was teaching, but they were generally older and I got to give them back at the end of the day. It was still exhausting.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
I think youth plays a part in it No way could I have children in my 30's or even 40's. I had 4 kids, all spaced out during my 20's. I had enough energy to cope....just. Now, I look at my grandkids & I feel wobbly. They are mini dinosaurs. They stamp, crash & destroy. They scream & yell & throw things in happy abandon. Id rather have a rabid dog

Re: Tales of Home [8]
ok. i kinda hate kids. i find babies who can't talk, but crawls around and sit up, scary and idk.. i don't know how to communicate. toddlers who speak are sort of cute but they rage. kids between 5-9 ask such stupid question, i hate them so much- 10-14 uuuuugh... they're so ugh.. little kids thinking they're adults. 15-17 talk waaaay too loudly on the buss i fucking can't stand them, but at least one can have a conversation with them... even though they're super immature... but i think newborns are really cute and i kinda want one.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
