the world is really weird sometimes, weird and absurd... and sad.. this is perhaps one of the strangest videos i've found.. not neceserally because it is shocking, but because it is true and idk.. why did they tell it like that??
Re: Just...................whatever [7]
Her sudden death was big news over here, so I think they felt they could jump right in with backstory. I don't think they really intended to have the sudden twist at the end for shock purposes.

I know that people don't think straight in these situations, that most people don't do what needs to be done, but I'm surprised that with so many people around there was noone who was able to give her the Heimlich.

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

but they spent aalmost a minute on her dad and 9/11 at the beginnning?!
Re: Just...................whatever [7]
Chronological order. Emphasizing how much the family has suffered, which I agree is somewhat salacious.

Okay, so assuming they met when she was 18, she'd be 52 now, and doesn't look it. He looks at least 65. Nice story. I like how everyone honors the rule of the performance art, just looking quietly.

We are back
chris63 wrote:
Well Hasia and I are finally back from the coast where she had her spinal and rib surgery over three days. I never want to go through that again all alone with her unconscious most of the time. When we boarded the plane I just kept saying the Lord.s prayer. When we landed I could not walk as I too am to be treated for my spine and lower back and legs. We were driven to Ronald McDonald House, totally sumptuous It is divided into four sections, we were given a suite in the Beach area. Each area has its own huge kitchen, we each have a frige drawers and a washer and dryer. There is a two story slide. Hasia and I went to bed as the pre op the next day was nine hours long. We actually did not eat for three days. When we did we were disoriented and my blood sugar was so bad I felt in a dream She had to go to spinal nurse, research team as her curve was nearly one hundred per cent and it was almost too late the head surgeon told me, the pediatrician had left it too long to save her. I was shattered but he said he and the other five surgeons and five technicians would try their best Then the anesthtist who warned she may go blind or be paralyzed I was so traumatized and Hasia too But the law states we must be told so we can back out. Then the echo cardiologist and then the pulmonaey specialistThe next day she was put in a crib her hand was numbed. I was given scrubs and went in All those masked faces. They made the first cut and made me leave. They did her rib moving it from over her heart and lungs making her breathing almost impossible for over a year. They inserted a camera and robotically did the surgery It took eight hours She was unconscious a d on morphine Her one lung was filled with water and she kept not breathing. She had blood transfusions and a huge hose inserted by her lung to blow it up and a tube for collecting her blood and a catheter to collect her urine. I stayed with her in critical care twelve hours then we were moved to critical care childrens She slept one day and then at seven next morning she had the second surgery. This was way longer and moved her spine from the far right to the center A tether was put on either side and donor spine attached all the way up and cemented. She was not finished until after supper. Her face was horribly swollen and her eyes were nearly swollen out of her head She was on so much morphine she went thru drug withdrawal after You could hear her screams down the hall She had to learn to walk whe lost over eleven pounds and she was a;ready thin She could not stop vomiting on the plane home after eighteen days we fell asleep and didnt notice the hard landing that freaked out the others/ We both had to have the ramp and wheel chairs. We were met in Kelowna and driven at last to Vernon At home I had to help her to do her log rolls in order to lift her. she had physio to learn to sit up and finally walk She cannot have any dental work for six months I have to do her teeth so no blood goes into her spine She has a machine to huff into for her lungs. she has to breath in and make a ball float not breathe out much If I as much as hear her moan in her sleep I rush to her and I cannot sleep I keep vigil because we have to keep going the six hundred plus miles for checkups. Because she is growing they will not be able to say she is healed and out of danger for SIX years But I miss you all. I love youBy the way her spine was made miraculously straoght No one could believe it Those guys will always be my heroes

Wow. We were all so concerned when we didn't hear from you. I believe everything will come out well for both of you. She will pull through because she's young and you have doctors who gave their all to her; you will pull through because she needs you.
Love and hugs.

Re: Just...................whatever [7]
That is the most amazing tale ! Its both scary, powerful & uplifting. I'm speechless. My gawd you have strength & tenacity. Children are the most amazing people when it comes to illness & hospitalization. That is the most inspiring story. You both deserve all the strength & love there is, & support also. I hear you sacrifice because you love her so much. Look after yourself to look after her. Obviously the others here know you better than I but, speedy recovery & good health. And yes, doctors, surgeons, nurses, anyone in the medical profession are worth their weight in diamonds. What they can do is astounding. I think they need to be brave, to improve & find new & better techniques.

Re: Just...................whatever [7]
I am so glad Hasia got through that traumatic time, in some ways it was probably worse for you because you were aware of what was going on through it all. I know its a cliché but kids are tough cookies and bounce back quickly. try and get some rest and mentally unwind because you have gone through a traumatic experience too. I seems like the worst is over now and she is on the way to recovery, being back home around familiar places and things is always comforting after a bad time. I send you both lots of love.
