{{ Not off to a good start in my view, his Gimli is pretty poor, the accent is off and he lacks the deepness of the voice. His legolas and orcs are much better but he doesnt seem able to keep it up when he goes off the film script. His Gollums good, but then Im one of the few who doesnt really like Serkis take on the voice. Too squeaky for my tastes. And his Frodo is pretty ropey too. Listening to it without looking at the vid I didnt recognise his Chris Lee at all, I had to look to see who it was suposed to be. He struggles with Pippin's Scots accent too. And his Bilbo isnt even close to Ian Holms voice or Martin Freeman- least he admits that one is beyond him. Thorins not bad but he has some difficulty with deep voices and doesn't quite get there.
Not bad but a lot miss the mark too. Needs to keep practising, think he can get there in the end.}}

I thought he was fantastic. really talented.

He goes off the mark when extemporizing, which shows his imitations are purely sonic rather than climbing inside the character.    I barely could hear the difference between him and characters when he was reciting lines.

I thought I'd only watch a minute or two, but couldn't stop.  Honestly did laugh out loud several times.  The man's a comic genius.

Putting on a persona is a time honored comedy technique.

You have to be good at it though.

Differing opinions. I think he was good on the first segment, have to admit it's sounding a bit forced on the second one.

I didn't get to the second part, bloody hell.

To be fair, he's going for the idiotic Coven Original lines.

I never understood that Gimli was saying "I won't have some pointy-ear out-scoring me".

"Comedy". Gimli as the Jar-Jar Binks of Middle-earth.

{{ I enjoyed both and both genuinenly made me laugh out loud at least once, which is rare for me being the crabbit old bastard that I am. I also enjoyed the several little references to other films and books he sneaks in there- like the translation of Gimlis insult as being the insult from John Cleeese over the top French knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. }}

Oh I was referring to the vocal impersonations video from earlier, not the FotR summary.

The baked chicken strikes twice! They didn't need the accompanying movie footage, those were quite recognizable.

Long interview, but when I clicked around every entry point is endlessly fascinating. I'll have to come back to this in pieces.
