It was just so weird, here was someone who wasn't morbidly obsessed with these movies.
yeah its weird when that happens. its like how can you not know this stuff? being part of a Hobbit forum is like being a cult member of the Dark Webasphere or something, we knowz stuff nobody else does.

I wonder which take of Gandalf's "How shall this day end" they will end up using. I'm pretty sure I've heard three so far.
That was the trailer I saw, at the end where it says " experience it in 3D " All I want to experience it is by going home

Awesome picture He does look like a cool guy, that smile is great - he looks genuinely pleased that you wanted to take a picture with him, which is really cool

Thats an interesting idea Figgy. Imagine if he, or any of the other actors read the things we've put up ? And if so, did any
of it filter back to peejers ?

Yeah, a lot of friends and family who've known me for years know that I'm a big LOTR fan, so when they ask me if I'm excited about The Hobbit movies, I usually just smile and say yeah, I'm really looking forward to the last one.
Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
My brother's wife likes the hobbit movies, and she wants me to see it with them when it comes out, so I'll go with them. I want to enjoy the movie (not love, but just enjoy it), so I need to go in with big smiles and a positive attitude.
- Spoiler:
- I was actually thinking I might go to that Hobbit marathon that some of the theaters will do. I've never done anything like that before, and this would be my last chance.

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
The all-day marathon might be fun, but it's not something I can really justify taking off work for in the middle of the busiest time of the year. Besides, I've still never even gotten around to doing the LOTR-EE marathon at home...
Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
I don't know. I'll see what the ticket prices are, and if they're not astronomical I'll consider it.
Although, torn was saying that the marathon was going to be on a Monday (that didn't make much sense), which would be a no-go for me because I have students to teach.

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Yeah, the report that I saw said the marathon was on Monday, December 15. The wide release in North America is on Wednesday, December 17.

Also, I didn't know you had a teaching gig! Are you a TA or something more?

I did the LOTR EE when ROTK came out at my local theater and it was a blast. We had laminated passes and they had a 45 minute intermission in between FOTR and TTT and another one in between TTT and ROTK at midnight. It was a ton of fun. I don't think I could sit that long only a month after having surgery if they do one for the Hobbit but I doubt they will

I would think you will have been through enough pain Sin without wanting about 9 hours of PJ's hobbit to watch!

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Screenshot time again-
I have no idea what this is-
The Nine at Dol Guldur-
Those orcs must be able to move siege weapons damn fast, wonder where they got them from, dont remember seeing siege weapons in the army that left Dol Guldur (or are those dwarves in armour manning them? But then why would they need siege weapons?)-
Elrond, judging by all the bones on walls, guessing Dol Guldur again-
Dwarves on goats (which sounds like a very dubious porn title )-
CGI Bolg kicking CGI Tauriels arse all over the shop (so at least might be something good in this! If he does the same to Legolamb I'm holding a party)-
The return of the fiery vagina! (they should get some cream on that!)-
Bard killing stuff whilst whizzing about on a cart, no really-

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Those TV spots. What's up with the super horrible composite work only a month away from release? Was the entire movie filmed on an indoor set? Indoor sets don't matter when the scene takes place indoors. But by the looks of it most of the film takes place outdoors on vast icy landscapes. This is a bad bad bad sign. Also, Gandalf's "All of middle earth will fall including the shire" and Bilbo's "I will fight to the death" is beyond absurd.

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
PJ, never one to miss the chance to dangle someone of a high thing - I think thats every single film so far
Bards son I think, and he seem to have the windlass black arrow thing- with any luck him and the bloody stupid giant arrow both fall to their death and are never seen again.
Also Gandalf says its a master plan long in the making- so Sauron was planning Thorin to do all this, including the dragon sickness? And if it was a plan why did he send Azog, then Bolg, to try to kill Thorin before he even got going? How could he account for Bard killing Smaug- or is it just a ridiculous coincidence that the date Sauron had set for his master plan turns out to be the same day as Smaug gets killed and Thorin gets the mountain back?

Jackson does love a good dangle!
I wonder how many total minutes of dangling there'll be in all the ME movies put together? It might even make an interesting montage. I wonder if he uses the same format for each dangle, or if he dangles each character differently.
