Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
I'll be sitting around waiting for it! My Thursdays are pretty chill so it won't be a problem. I am, however, illogically excited for it. Maybe because it's the last one... DAMN SENTIMENT! I guarantee PJ is milking that for all it's worth. He knows he needs to really rile up the nostalgia to make bank.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
I'm thinking back to how fun it was waiting for and then watching the first ever Hobbit trailer (particularly since Malick and I were just reminiscing about it the other day). So much has changed in my life, and with the forum, in the last three years. It's kinda cool though. The end of any journey this long, no matter how disappointing some elements of it have been, is inevitably going to be bittersweet, but also exciting.

the end of the Tolkien-film era, in all probability. Bittersweet, and tinged with memory.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Well, if I forget completely about The Hobbit, it looks pretty good.
If I remember that there was a book somewhere behind all this, several things strike me:
• "This was a plan long in the making" intercut with approaching goblin hordes. Um...really? I thought the plan started after Smaug was killed. So (counts on fingers) a half dozen weeks, maybe.
• Saruman?! Where the %$!@ did HE come from? (Oh, that's right, he popped up in the first movie.) Did I actually hear him say "Bring Sauron to me!"
• Did those elf archers come from the Clone Wars?

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Its the bit with the orcs all marching into what look like caverns of some sort that is puzzling me. Lots of big trolls with what looked like siege stuff of some sort on their back too. Bats that have been bred for only one purpose, war. Wasnt that Aragorns line about the Uruk Hai?
I think Saruman said "Leave Sauron to me!"
Think I saw Tauriel having a tiff with Thranduil too, and looks like will be her and Fili crap to suffer through again. And fighting on carts.
Oh and Bilbo got to narrate a bit at the start of the trailer.....yeah.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Well its a nice editing job again. In terms of being a trailer its well done, like the AUJ one. But you disguise anything into looking good in a trailer, its what they are for.
And there is more than enough there to worry anyone who cares abut the book and are looking for hints as to likely content.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Its a very different trailer to the one I saw when we went to see Dracula Untold at the cinema this October. That trailer was bad enough but this one If I could just see it as any other fantasy film I MIGHT say it looks good, but,.............

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Goddammit, the leaked trailer is down now. Read through the reactions in this thread and a couple on TORn, though. Sounds like some crazy shit.
Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
It looks to be a bigger battle scene than Helm's Deep. As several have said, if you forget about the book it looks like fun.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
This is what happened with AUJ- everyone saw a nicely edited trailer and thought all would be well- and look where that got you. Dont forget your crabbit!
A trailer can make anything look good, even My Cousin Vinny.

Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Yeah, the trailer looks good, but will the dialogue be any good? Will the editing be any good? Will they use GoPro's again?
We know how they feel about the book at this point, so there's no point bothering with most of the script aside from dialogue and inconsistencies.

Significantly better than DOS? Because I tried my best to forget about the book when watching that, but it was not a good movie.
Re: The Battle of the Five Armies, final trailer
Significantly better than DOS?- Eldo
Its a better trailer than the one for DOS. Thats about as far as you can say.
