Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
I bet they'll have the credits like they were at the end of ROTK with sketches of all the characters. And we'll be like, "Oh, there's that one dwarf who had three lines. What was his name again?"

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Yeah. I'm expecting character portrait end credits again too. That was a really nice touch in ROTK. Obviously it won't be the same the second time around, but I imagine it will be included. And honestly it would feel kind of weird to me if they didn't (but maybe that's just because they've taken so many other opportunities to tie the two trilogies together).
I have been wondering a bit lately what the ending of BOFA will be. Specifically, what will come after the end of the battle. I've defended the conclusion of ROTK before, but I don't think we'll see quite as extended a coda here. The big variable is whether the auction of Bilbo's belongings takes place or not. I might make a thread about this if I'm able to organize my thoughts sufficiently well.

Make a thread? I say make wagers. Auction or not?

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Well if they really want to push the LOTR parallels, they'll cut it, because the parallel in the books is the Scouring of the Shire, and we all know what PJ thought of that.
But they're going to need as much material as they can to pad out the run time.
But on the other hand, they're apparently trying to keep this one to 2.5 hours or something.
:/

Re: Waiting for 'The Battle of the Five Armies' [2]
Im sure there's going to be a sob fest when Thorin bites the bullet. That will be milked & drawn out as after all he IS the hero of this story. The ending I'd like to see is ( apart from peejers Boo-ed out of existence !) a reflective Bilbo wandering around his cosy home, quietly remembering what each piece of memorabilia stood for & then sitting outside for a quiet smoke & watching the rest of the Shire getting on with life. Pan out & fade, credits roll & I never have to watch such dire shit again !

It will probably end with a shot of Gollum peeping out of his hole and spitting on a minature painting of Bilbo, shaking his fist and saying 'tricksy Bagginses gonna squeeze its testicleses aaaaaaaaaarrrrr'

Not from Bilbo's point of view

I'm actually at the point where I'm hoping PJ goes full blown crazy with this one, as this is likely the last M.E film for a while, I'd like to be entertained, or annoyed in some way that is memorable, so far my reaction to this trilogy has been mild indifference and ever increasing confusion.

From the EE I'm assuming. It's nice to see a voice of reason character in Thranduil. His absolute disinterest in the dwarves is refreshing and very relatable!!!

I'm past the point of caring what Jackson puts in his crappy films. He's already ruined the characters, he written the story into something it never was, and included so much made up bull shit that the story he did tell, no longer makes any sense. The only reason I might see TBO5A is to finish the train wreck know I started riding many years ago... LOTR Great films IMHO the Hobbit are overblown wastes that could have been so much better if they had bothered to follow the source material

Indeed, it was rather enjoyable!Tinuviel wrote:

And how interesting that Peter Jackson practically says "the dumb thing I added to the movie (the spider-elven-dwarf three-way in the forest) made the book-material (the arrival of the dwarves in the Elven-king's halls) unusable in my movie."

well hopefully from seeing that the additional 25 minutes will be material from the book added back into the film so that it might make some sense... that and maybe Petty can get more material that can make it into the edit.
and if that isn't being added back into the EE, well if Jackson hadn't changed the story to make no sense the scene would have worked just fine. Jackson truly has botched the Hobbit as a adaptation.

I aint getting my hopes up on that. But the EE is out today I think so should have an idea of a rough edit of DOS EE by weeks end.

I am rather sad to find that I am losing interest. Maybe it is too long a wait, or maybe I am afraid we will find Ariel or Tink there somehow..
But I AM looking forward to the next Barbie Movie.
