Re: The News of the Pure
the t-shirt in question couldnt be posted here because it would breach the rules. Its not the nudity that was the problem, it was the pose, which was vulgar and distastful (in a public place) which you would find in a porno mag. That is never ok in public, above all for children. If it hadnt been pornographic in effect it wouldnt have been removed by the police. nuff said.

I can only assume it must have been pretty full on for Italian police to remove it!

Just because society is more lenient about fornication, it doesn't mean the same psychological and emotional effects of it have lessened at all. People are weird.
I would think that most of the "psychological and emotional effects" of witnessing nudity (whether the witnesser is an adult or a child) are largely dependent to do with the social attitudes that person is accustomed to. So society becoming more lenient would in fact mean fewer people are likely to freak out at the sight of nudity (IMO). But I haven't seen the shirt in question (though it does sound distasteful to wear in public).
I'm thinking more about children here. Nudity is one thing. A pornographic position to got with it is another. THAT would be psychologically scaring for a young child. Plus, public decency is always a nice thing. I know if I had a child I wouldn't want them seeing that when they don't even know what sex is yet!

Re: The News of the Pure
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by psychologically scarring, so I don't want to write a response that would put words into your mouth, but speaking anecdotally for a moment, I can attest that accidentally/incidentally seeing actual pornography at a young age does not result in lasting mental damage. But depending on how explicit the image was, I'd probably agree that it's not something to have displayed in a shop window.
Re: The News of the Pure
I think that depends on the individual child Eldo. Some kids are mature and some are fragile, some would be shocked some wouldnt. I know kids mature earlier these days but I can tell you that if I had seen porn when I was a child it would have scarred me psychologically because I was over-sensitive and impressionable. Things do have an effect on children even though on the surface all is ok, underneath their young minds are distubed by what they have seen.

Re: The News of the Pure
Being shocked or even bothered for a couple of days is one thing, but I hear "psychologically scarred" and think of long-term mental or emotional damage. I'm pretty skeptical of the idea that accidentally seeing pornography -- once, briefly -- has that kind of destructive power on kids (or anyone).
Re: The News of the Pure
I'm not sure I'd call a nude picture pornography, especially if it was in a society where nudity is more accepted than the US or Britain. Not sure about the Italian views on it. If the pose is salacious it could be rather confusing to young minds though hardly scarring.
The sex act itself...well...that's actually pretty gross unless you're all goofed up on hormones or have seen quite a few pets or farm animals do it. I think it's best for pre-adolescents not to see that.
