I always imagine Cersei like a coiled spring, but Headey just seems like her brain is botoxed.

Those were pretty fun.
Though I think I prefer Peter Dinklages version.
"Tyrion is a science chemistry teacher at a high school and finds this guy, Jesse Pinkman, and they get a Winnebago."

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
- Spoiler:
- Tom Wlaschiha is great. Shame his role on the show couldn't be bigger.
Why did they turn her away at first though? Only to let her in later. That seemed a bit nonsensical.

If Game of Thrones had been made in the 60's.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Posted some thoughts on the most recent episode in the book spoiler thread, but here's the next episode promo:
Fuck yeah, Cersei vs the Faith time. Gimme datGovernor Swann Jonathan Pryce.
Curious to see what they do with Ramsay and co too.

- Spoiler:
- Littlefinger and Sansa appear to have teleported from the Riverlands to Winterfell. We'll have to wait until the episode actually airs to see if there are any specific timeline clues, but this is getting pretty egregious. Yes, casual violations of time and space occur in almost all fantasies, but I criticize it in other ones too.
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
well that's got things motoring on nicely wow who would have thought Jon Snow wasn't a little puppy but a quite brutal wolf. poor Ser Jorah that Dany-ho dress split must have driven him crazy.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
The 'adaptations' are coming thick and fast now!!
- Spoiler:
So Sansa is at Winterfell then.... that is quite the deviation. I wonder if GRR told them of his plans for her or if this is totally show driven.

RE: Lance's spoiler
- Spoiler:
- GRRM just released a new The Winds of Winter preview chapter for Sansa, and she's still in the Eyrie, learning the arts of politcking and conspiracy and meeting Harry the Heir for the first time. I think the show is conflating Sansa with fArya's (Jeyne Poole) storyline from A Dance with Dragons instead, though it's hard to say if it will go the same direction.

I did have time to watch the first episode, but I forgot what happened.

That's not so strange, as I'm not sure all that much did happen.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
To be fair, it's not like very much happened in most of Feast and Dance (especially AFFC).
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I'll probably just wait until all the episodes are available and then just binge.

Yeah, I prefer to do that with most tv shows. Though I guess the problem with doing that with GoTs is that you might get some of the twists spoiled.

You certainly have a point. Although I tend to think that was kind of intentional.
It's odd how much of my favourite writing out of the series is from those two books, but I'll certainly not deny they have their issues. Little happening being one of them. And when something does happen the conclusion is left hanging for Winds of Winter. (If you are going to take 5+ years for each book in your series you really shouldn't be leaving cliffhangers. )

- Spoiler:
- Littlefinger does talk about how he through Sansa and Harry's marriage plans to gain control of both the Vale and the North. Reclaiming Sansa's birthright, as he obviously doesn't know about Bran or Rickon.“Jon Arryn’s Bannermen will never love me, nor our silly, shaking Robert, but they will love their Young Falcon... and when they come together for his wedding, and you come out with your long auburn hair, clad in a maiden’s cloak of white and grey with a direwolf emblazoned on the back… why, every knight in the Vale will pledge his sword to win you back your birthright. So those are your gifts from me, my sweet Sansa… Harry, the Eyrie, and Winterfell. That’s worth another kiss now, don’t you think?
So, Sansa going north at some point isn't that improbable. But it'll probably not tie in with the Boltons in any way, and certainly not this part of the plot in the North.

I almost always do this with TV shows, but there are a handful that I like being able to join in the weekly discussions for, and GOT is one of them. The volume of discussion is much less in the offseason.

Agreed about the cliffhangers. But yeah, AFFC/ADWD were the start of a "second act" of the series, after the first three books covered what was originally supposed to be the first volume of a trilogy. So it makes sense that the pace slows down somewhat. The showrunners have talked about turning the corner and beginning to bring all the characters and plot strands back together, which makes sense if they want to end this in 7-8 seasons. But I don't think Martin can wrap the story up in only two more books.
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I actually liked the slowed down tempo. The time for contemplation, resetting and actually getting to see the enormous and awful consequenses of war. I think that is an important part of the story for it to be believable. It feels very much like they are heading straght for the endgame in the show. Taking no time for contemplation, or seeing the consequences of the previous seasons. No time to introduce the new plot points George has introduced. (Except Dorne in the bastardized form that is included.) All we hear about is vengance. The need to move on and swiftly into action again. It does leave the story poorer in my opinion.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Yeah, I think they're pretty much scrapping the second act of the story and leaping straight into their rendition of the third. Even though I found most Feast really dull, I'm not sure this was the best decision. But I suppose there's only so long you can work on a TV show, especially when so much of your cast are so young (and still growing fast).
Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
It's an understandable decision certainly. Although HBO have gone public on wanting 10 seasons, as have George, but have said ultimately it's up to the show runners. My biggest problem is that the writing they are using to streamline and steam ahead, like Varys suddenly being a Targaryan supporter, really isn't up to the quality of the story in the books. People talking about them improving on the story in the books just leave me bewildered, as they have introduced; so many plotholes, so much discarded characterisation, so many plotlines dropped like hot potatoes. I've said I'm going to try to judge them on the story from here on out, but this season is undeniably a bit of a mess so far.
I don't see so many other strong arguments againt telling the whole story, other than the actors age as you mentioned. Who knows, if they felt the need to get to the end in a hurry perhaps they should have used George's originally planned five year gap.
