Brother to a Targaryen king - Maester Aemon No idea of how fire proof he is, though

Figgy can't help herself. You should go on wiki and read up on everything!
Just finished the books so I am game for any discussions now! At least until the next book comes out!

I generally use spoilers when responding to someone else who posted in spoilers, and sometimes I'll throw stuff in spoilers just in case. But it's not required in this thread, no.
With the other thread, people use spoilers for the most recent episode since not everyone is able to watch the episode all at the same time, especially people in countries other than the US where the show has a slightly different schedule. Again, not necessarily required, but I think it's the polite thing to do.

And there's another "dead" character, I guess.

What did you think of the epilogue? That was easily one of my favorite parts of the last book.
As for the Jon thing, the book does pretty much leave the conclusion open. And many of the several ways forward have already been mentioned. Though it's good to remember we've been here before. Arya getting an axe to the back of the head (that's at the Red Wedding in the books, in case any non-book readers panicks. ), Tyrion drowning, Davos drowning at the Blackwater, Davos at White Harbor...
So I would say the conclusion is pretty open.

The epilogue was good. I was waiting for Varys to reappear. The Lannisters are on the ropes now!!

No... that was an example of people seeming dead but not being. Arya at the Twins, Tyrion several times (e.g. blackwater)

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
The epilogue was great! It looks like things will begin to happen again in book six. Not that nothing happened in books 4 & 5, but the pace was definitely slowed down. I think ADWD really picked up in the end, though, and unlike A Feast for Crows it didn't have borderline boring chapters. Loved Victarion's final chapters, and Selmy's. So many questions, though! Did Jon die? Has Stannis really lost? What's going to happen to Dany? Tyrion? Cersei? Where did Jaime and Brienne go? And so long to wait!

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
I really am curious as to whether Jaime will lose more body-parts!
Assuming, of course, that Brienne has played him false somehow, leading to a second (third?) capture.

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
I think Brienne may now be a reanimated corpse in the service of catelyn. Do wonder what she needed Jaime for.
Think we will be back to all out war in the next book!!

Now that's a scary theory - and plausible, I guess
- The Winds of Winter spoilers:
- Apparently the sixth book will begin with two huge battles, so you're quite right, Lance, we're back to all out war from the start
Read this as well on the wiki page for the sixth book: "On the other hand, Martin noted the challenge to avoid a situation like the finale of the TV series Lost, which left some fans disappointed by deviating too far from their own theories and desires". I am very relieved by this statement, as not two days ago I was thinking "as long as the books don't end like Lost did" Too many loose ends in that series. I really hope Martin manages to write a satisfactory, conclusive ending to his story.

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
Me too. There are so many plots that need to be tied back together and with all of the annoyingness of everyone dying, it needs to have some happy endings.
I think the next book should be the darkest. I am wondering if the wall will be lost and the Others will be pushing south. Would be interesting to see them appearing in Essos too.

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
I was wondering what could stop the White walkers from taking over and then I realized the only thing that stops them is fire.

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire [2]
There were some changes from how the final chapters of the book went, which kinda bugged me since I had just re-read those passages recently and consider them to be among Martin's best. But having slept on it, the episode is good, and it seems to have been received really well by non-readers.
- Spoiler:
- The only change that still really bugs me is that they don't mention Tysha. It's not surprising since they haven't mentioned her all season IIRC, but she's a really important part of Tyrion's character (and Jaime and Tywin's, for that matter). It looks like most of her role has been given to Shae posthumously.
