I like the look of this better than the 1st cheesy fluff with Ioan Gruffudd

Re: Future releases [2]
That's a very fast remake. A la Spiderman.
The concept is all based on the metaphor of social dysfunction as superpower abilities, right?: the shy girls ability to disappear, the "hard-exterior" guys rock body but gentle inside, the innovative kid's ability to adapt to any situation (physically and mentally). The cast is younger, the effects are newer, but does the film really have more to offer?
When a superhero trailer has that much "impending doom" talk but not much compelling dialogue or comedic moments, isn't that a red flag?

I don't trust it.Pettytyrant101 wrote:OK I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I like the look of that more so than any of the previous Batman or Superman films- there is a potentially genuine and interesting avenue to explore there about power and what motivates someone to want it and using those two as the comparative studies. If they use the comic book trappings to explore those themes and aspects of human nature they might actually make the first comic book film since Watchmen that I can see the point to.
At least the first trailer I saw had ridiculous lines like:
Batman (in comically base voice): Do you bleed? You will.
They're going to waffle around until they find an appropriately dark city backdrop and then whip out their junk and compare with rulers. (e.g. Fight each other a lot.) The trailer may be hamming up the fighting of the movie, but what they're not going to do is turn it into a comparative psychology discussion.
It's just a teaser trailer though, so we'll see.

Re: Future releases [2]
I'm pretty sure I posted the Kung Fury trailer when it was first posted on Kickstarter. They turned it into a short film (I've heard 30 minutes or so). They also got David Hasselhoff to sing the theme song.
Kung Fury premieres at the Cannes Film Festival and will be available for free online on May 28.

Re: Future releases [2]
I didn't know that Norc was branching off into acting!
I must say her dog (was it Leopold? I can't remember his name) is looking very wolfish these days.
P.S.
I didn't know this was a Swedish film, so when I saw the "Hacker" character I could have sworn it was Neil Cicierega. Anyone familiar with his work could easily make the mistake.

I hope Jurassic World is good, really nervous on that one. Could be good in a cheesy fan-service way which could be fun, could be bad in a Transformers kind of way.

I will definitely be giving that one a watch- though I am still a bit unsure about it.

the avenue of trees in Sherlock trailer reminded me of "Orlando". Both films look fun tho I think Im edging more towards "Sherlock"

Re: Future releases [2]
Not sure if anyone else has read the book (one of my favourites):
http://collider.com/the-forever-war-channing-tatum-sparks-bidding-war/
My immediate reaction to Tatum's casting was
He's a good enough actor I guess, but in mannerisms and appearance is nothing like the Mandela of the book and I'm certain he was cast for being Hollywood's current 'Beefcake', the book is a sci fi classic, but in some respects quite dated and controversial, admittedly it's hard to see the film remaining too faithful (the sequels aren't quite as good either...) with a hot name like Tatum boarding.
Surprised to see Scott has left the project, I've followed news about this since he was first attached, and it's hard to see anyone else who could pull off a sci-fi on such a big scale, whatever's Scott's flaws as a storyteller he certainly had an eye for action and production design.
Edge of Tommorow was great, and Emily Blunt was equally unlikely casting in that film, but it worked...
I remain very cautious...

Seems like non aging is going to be the flavour of the month, This film is about Time stopping still for one woman & how she stays the same thru the ages.

Re: Future releases [2]
Lots of interesting sci-fi movies it seems.
Ex Machina is finally in wide-release so I hope to see it soon. I'll probably see it before Age of Ultron since the latter has not really looked all that engaging to me. (Still hyped for Civil War though.)
I'm intrigued by Tomorrowland, though I liked the more vague teaser trailer more than this one. There's a tie-in novel for it that we're stocking at work called Before Tomorrowland and I've been joking to everyone that it should be called Todayland. I'm not sure anyone else thinks it's all that funny though.
Only just heard of The Age of Adaline this weekend but it looks really promising. Definitely would like to see this one.
Channing Tatum is actually a decent to good actor. Ridiculously good looking and yes, beefcake, but he's proven his comedic chops with 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike. Don't know how he'd fare in a serious drama but I wouldn't write him off. Though Malick's post reminds me that I should see Edge of Tomorrow since I keep hearing good things about it.

If you have to pick one young woman to live forever, you can do worse than Blake Lively. Gives more time for me to finally get my shot with her.

this looks superb! is what I have been waiting for a long time. it also got one of my favourite actors Alba Rohrwacher in it who I said at the time would have made the perfect Tauriel, but instead we got a Hollywood hottie. anyway can't wait for this could only find a trailer in Italian
