Re: Future releases [2]
I worried that the NWA biopic was going to be a pure vanity project, but it actually looks good. I'm sure vanity played a part in its creation, but they definitely earned the right to be a little vain.

Anyway, has anyone seen What We Do in the Shadows yet?
I didn't realize it was out again, or now, or whatever. But I am definitely seeing that soon!

I thought the rule was you could only remake movies that were in black and white. Or foreign.

Mmm not sure about remaking Poltergeist- the orginal is still a good entertaining yarn so dont really see the need. And whilst that doesnt look awful, the psychic bloke?- what is that accent meant to be?- and he will never compete with wee woman in the original who played that role.

Hm. They could of course have dressed him up like that just for the video, which was meant to be part of an exhibition experience or someting, most likely filmed in a quite throwaway fashion and certainly not meant to be a big deal, that would be epic level trolling though.

Hee hee Forest You gotta see "What we did in the shadows" Brilliant film ! Set in New Zealand, about, as you know, vampires sharing a house. it was done like a documentary type of film & it felt so real, as tho they had not ever rehearsed it All I can say to you is, its a hoot ! Its got Werewolves, all sorts. Also its sending up previous vampire films & stories but in a subtle way, & one guy was the image of the vampire from "Salems Lot". I thought it was great fun, Id watch it again.

Awesome! I've loved Jermaine Clement since first seeing Flight of the Conchords, so this film is pretty much perfect for me.

Re: Future releases [2]
Calling a movie GDT's "masterpiece" is a tall order, and probably setting it up to disappoint, but I am a little intrigued. It looks more like a Tim Burton movie than a GDT one to me though.

Wait, so an Alien sequel? Are we still getting a sequel to Prometheus? I didn't think it was nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

Re: Future releases [2]
Apparently Fox said
I didn't care for Prometheus but I'll probably give the Alien sequel a go if Ridley Scott is uninvolved (though to be fair I haven't seen Exodus so maybe he's bounced back from the one-two punch of Robin Hood and Prometheus).

Re: Future releases [2]
Yeah we are getting both- the new Alien film is being done under the company that Ridely Scott owns.

Thoughts?
Disney went to the trouble of getting the rights to Indy (it wasn't included in the original Lucasfilm sale) so it was obvious a new film was in the works, personally I'm intrigued by the idea of recasting Indy (though I hope it isn't a reboot/remake there are plenty of gaps in t he continuty for new films...) let's face it, Crystal Skull was hardly the perfect send of for the franchise, and Harrison Ford isn't getting any younger (though I think he is actually still signed for a Fifth film...maybe keep him for book end sequences to hand over the part to a younger version of the character?) if you are going to take a risk and extend a franchise past its best years, you might as well do something new with the casting.
As for Pratt, I find this kinda funny as my brother actually commented to me after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy he would be a perfect fit for a Indiana Jones remake...he's certainly the right build and age to play the character, but he seems like an obvious choice...
It's hardly necessary to have more films, but personally, as with Star Wars I find the potential exciting, if it's terrible we can just pretend it didn't happen.

Re: Future releases [2]
Indy certainly lends itself to the serialized model so it'd be fairly straightforward to make a new movie and you don't even have to worry that much about continuity. I wouldn't hold out hope that it'll compare favorably to Raiders and Last Crusade, though I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. That said, I'd rather see more original movies that are able to create their own identity and do something new with their influences rather than trying to replicate the exact formula of a previous film (which is what's gonna happen here).

I am just sick of remakes. they tire me and give me the hump.

Re: Future releases [2]
Yeah its a waste of film making talent remakes - theres a million great books out there which could be adapted into good films.
