That sounds a bit like that Spanish woman who tried to claim ownership of the sun and charge everyone for the use of it.

The Spanish courts rather tongue in cheekly told her claiming ownership of the sun was indeed possible, but she would have to live there for two years first.

Would she have to pay taxes?

As a Spanish citizen with an income from other peoples use of the sun?

Sure. Though the Spanish government would have to pay her for it's use as well. And a judgement in Spanish courts in such a matter wouldn't have much jurisdiction outside Spanish borders.

So, let's just say the right decision was made.

As for the matter in hand, I think I might have to plead the fifth.
