Re: Music [2]
That tends to drive me up the wall too. When you've heard a great version of a song and you can only find one that is similar, but nowhere near as good.
I would think you would have to upload it to youtube or somewhere yourself.

It is quite striking. Particularily the feel and the orchestration/arrangement. The tonality I'm a bit less sure of.
A lot of film music is often based on different classical pieces, so maybe they both were inspired by the same original work. The main theme from the Harry Potter films is taken almost exactly from a classical piece for instance.

It's the Micky Rourke Sylvester Stallone bit I was refering too, but the whole episode is good.

Some of my favorite McCartney tunes....
Used to think John Lennon was the insightful thoughtful one. These songs make me review that premise. McCartney knew his audience where Lennon really was only interested in himself. I used to think it was more the other way around.

Re: Music [2]
I liked Mull of Kintyre.... Am I the only one? Sadly, I don't think he ever again reached the heights of the Beatles-sublime period (to me Rubber Soul and Revolver). "She's Leaving Home" is a favorite too, mind. (The best song on Sergeant Pepper - though I know I hold a minority view). The three songs I chose from Revolver are exquisite - both words and music. I only just decided today that "For No One" is the best Beatle love song of all. I have a terribly terrible feeling that I've become an old and fat Romantic (once upon a time I was just a Romantic... ).

I cant give you Mull of Kintyre, its awful.
But I agree with you about She's Leaving Home- I once had a rather fierce argument with a friend over that song, as they didnt rate it at all.

Re: Music [2]
I read a book which praised Sergeant Pepper to the hilt -- except for that horrible piece of rubbish, "She's Leaving Home"... "She's Leaving Home" is one of my definite favorite songs - and the BEST song on Pepper in my opinion. The other songs were arty, and insightful at times, but "She's Leaving Home" was deceptively insightful in it's simplicity! I guess it spoke too much of ordinary life -- which is it's greatest strength.

Loved this song from the first time I heard it playing Driver 2 on the ps2.
I was quite shocked when I discovered it was a Kenny Rogers song-

Re: Music [2]
There are some really good songs from McCartneys solo years, though you might have to wade through some less interesting stuff to find them.

this is really cool, not only because she plays the super mario theme on an ancient chinese instrument, but she adds all the "effect-soudns" like the coin-sound, and the instruments looks like the isengard tower and she is really good and the sadder part.. it doesn't sound like an "ancient instrument", it sounds just like the super-mario theme music.

Mull of Kintyre is basically a folk song. by those lights it's pretty decent, but I can see how if put against a typical Beatles song people would find it boring.

I think Dudley Moore's genius has always been under appreciated.
And that was a cruelly accurate portrayal of Beethoven's inability to end a piece of music in a timely manner.

Re: Music [2]
What an amazing instrument- weird to think in ancient China they had a musical instrument that sounded exactly like a 16bit computer system

Must have been posted while I was posting. That's fabulous!
But I thought I knew all the old instruments. I have to wonder, it seems to have all 12 tones, which I find hard to believe with an ancient instrument. She can't be using cross fingering, because on a keyed instruments cross fingering would only work if playing one note at a time. She's playing multiple notes which means each key must be a note.
I'll have to look this up. Ancient chinese music does have chromaticism, but on this type of instrument it kind of blows my mind.
