Loved the Red Army stuff but the weirdest thing about these game so far is they are the campest games I think I have ever seen!

Well, we've been through Crosby, Stills and Nash. That leaves some Neil Young tunes with Crosby Nash harmonies, I guess.   







Just amazing how those harmonies makes those songs fly..

I'm trying to get into funk and soul so today I turned on iHeartRadio with a James Brown station to see what would come up. This was my favorite of the songs that played:

I do wonder when listening to this just what it's saying about Albuquerque. The lyrics are:

I got into Led Zeppelin around the same time as I did Tolkien and because of Zeppelin's LotR-themed "Battle of Evermore", I often think of Tolkien when I hear LZ. There is also the song "Ramble On" with its reference to Gollum and Mordor and the title of "Misty Mountain Hop". There is also a line in "Stairway to Heaven" that goes, in my thoughts I have seen, rings of smoke through the trees, which makes me think of Tolkien's books. But sometimes, the song doesn't have to have any references to Tolkien, for me to think of Tolkien.

Wasn't aware of that actually, Radaghast.

Apparently Jimmy Page made the song up on mandolin, never having played it before.

It's interesting that he said that because "Hey Hey What Can I Do?", a B-side released the previous year, had some mandolin. Perhaps that was played by a session musician, though Wikipedia credits Page with it. Kind of odd. Maybe his memory was playing tricks with him   

Another note about "The Battle of Evermore" is that it featured the only guest vocalist on a Led Zeppelin song, Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention (who died an untimely death at age 31). Robert Plant and the surviving members of Fairport Convention played "Ramble On" live in 1992.



Also, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss played BoEm on tour for their musical act.



The song was also covered by The Lovemongers (Ann and Nancy Wilson) for the soundtrack to the 1992 movie Singles.

Yeah, musicians tends not to let the facts get in the way of a good story.
