Ah. Gummy Bears, but if they tried I don't have much to complain about do I. And I would probably have to agree with Amarïe. (Still seems as good a reason to repost that video as any. )
What was it like seeing it at the cinema, Amarïe?

isn't it ironic how i am the one who complains the loudest if someone forgets spoiler tags.. but i am also the one who will most likely forget spoiler tags too.. like i remember spoiler tags on minor stuff that ain't really spoilers.. but proper spoilers.. nope.. never..
Re: Doctor Who [7]
Cinema was great. There was Dr Who music while we waited. Before the episode there was an bit with commander Strax instructing us on proper cinema behavior in his typical way. And there was 11 turning on the 3D with the sonic and 10 warning us in advance about 11's big chin. I am sure there will be a youtube video floating around of the whole thing, it was very enjoyable. Awesome!Bluebottle wrote:Ah. Gummy Bears, but if they tried I don't have much to complain about do I. :nod:And I would probably have to agree with Amarïe. Sounds great!
Didn't you say it was the only place in Norway to screen it as well?

Well, he DID make a proper anniversary episode which was very un-Moffat-y, I am guessing he feels the need to muck it up.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
- Spoiler:
- also i am a bit puzzled on how they got all the old doctors.. did they run around with the tardis? and shouldn't he remember what he had already done?
- Spoiler:
I suppose they could have just gone and got them all, but felt it was more likely the work of the Moment (incidentally after hearing about the Moment all this time I thought making it something which quite literally gives you a Moment to consider if its really what you want to do was genius).
As to remembering, they wont for the same reason given why 10 and the War Doctor won't remember, none of them do right up that point in 11's regeneration.
Petty, I nearly did a proper fangirl squeal at that final scene.- Amarie
I may have done...
The cinema viewing sounds great, wish I had been able to see Who on the big screen, but Im glad you got go.
Ive been reading a few comments about the 3D- and its getting praised even by those who say they normally dont like it. Particularly that it felt part of the plot with the paintings and not just a tacked on gimmick.
From watching in 2D all I can say is that they seem to have done better than PJ and co in that there doesnt seem to be the weird colour issues, it looked like a normal all be it glossier, more expensive and beautifully shot than usual tv episode.
Anyone on here who doesnt normally watch Who but watched that episode? And if so what did you make of it?
Norc- pure speculation as always with Moff as to what he will do. However the regen limit is not biological, its the amounts the Time Lord council give them out in.
- Spoiler:
- If he can find and restore Gallifrey they can give him another cycle of regens (they did for the Master in return for him helping the Doctor in the Five Doctors anniversary episode)

about the regeneration thing, i guess it makes sense.. but we'll just have to wait and see also, i would've loved to go and see it in 3D..
Re: Doctor Who [7]

Does that make any more sense?
- Spoiler:
Well we saw in the episode that The Moment has the ability to open wormholes in Time so sending a message to his former selves shouldn't be much of an issue.
And its also explained in the episode that as they changed their own past (sort of) the time lines for them are now out of synch- so when they return to their own times the time lines will re-synch and they wont remember all the out of synch stuff they just did.
When War Doctor regens at the end into 9, 9 will find himself in his TARDIS having just used the Moment- and thinking he wiped everything out.
Does that make any more sense?

sounds like a really bad excuse for an unfortunately plot hole, but then again.. it's sci-fi time traveling we're talking about what the hell, it doesn't really make sense to start with..
Re: Doctor Who [7]
I hope Norc that you are not suggesting that a tale about an alien who can travel anywhere in space in time in a wooden blue police box that's bigger on the inside than out does not make perfect sense!

Good- as making sense is in the list of things important to Who somewhere at the bottom of the page, if it hasnt fallen off entirely.....

Re: Doctor Who [7]
He's going to be a very jolly alien in space in a blue box after the 50th episode. Nope, not a care in the world, jolly jolly jolly, just larking around, no angst, no regret, no guilt or pain, how nice its all going to be now the Doctor is no longer The Doctor. So happy for him, it must be such a relief he can go round snogging anything that moves and not feel there should be something more. what fluffy happy nice times he is going to have.

serious? don't u think the episodes will be written like... about serious stuff..?
Re: Doctor Who [7]
Mrs Figg you are so wrong- how can the Doctor being restored to the position he was in for 43 of the 50 years he has been on TV be him becoming 'no longer the Doctor'- thats risible.
No longer the angst, guilt ridden, depressed Nuwho Doctor I'll give you- and thats all to the good.
What screwed up the Doctor and made him not the Doctor was having him commit genocide, on two separate species.
In Genesis of the Daleks the 4th Doctor has exactly that choice- to wipe every last Dalek before they even start- and he doesnt think he has the right then and he doesn't it- thats not what the Doctor does.
What RTD did was a far more severe fundamental shift for the Doctor than Moffat restoring it- it was RTD turned the Doctor into a mass murderer- something he had never been before and should never be- part of his personal 'motto is never give in'- and he didnt, not even after it seemed to late to do anything, still he never gave in, he found a way to keep being the Doctor.
And even if he finds what he is looking for there is plenty still to worry about- apart from the regrets of losing people like Adric, or what happened to Donna, or even Rose, or those people who have died in his name still?- or does all that not count as guilt any more?
And the High Council has still gone nuts- Rassilion is still got his plan, the Daleks survived and grew back into a power- there is more than enough still going on to give him a new purpose and plenty to worry about- its just he is free to do it again as the Doctor.
The show got good mileage out him thinking he was the last of his race and that he destroyed them all, but it could not just have gone on piling misery on top of misery, guilt upon guilt on the character - he would eventually just have killed himself rather than go on, there is no other feasible outcome.
This cleans the slate, gives him a new lease of life- and I couldnt be more happy about that and look forward immensely to what new adventures can now await him in the next 50 years.

Norc what he got to be serious about? Moffat destroyed the reason the Doctor is serious. He didnt destroy Gallifray (he thought of the cute kids, and we saw the cute kids running about being cute, because we actually had to see them being cute before we could care ) so now all the Doctors Dark Secrets, the things that made him ambigous, dangerous, alien, complex, damaged, has gone, he became human, he fell for sentimentalism, and hurrah! didnt press the button.

Moffat destroyed the reason the Doctor is serious.- Mrs Figg
So the first 8 Doctors were never serious, never said or did anything serious, never lost anyone close to him? This is a ridiculous argument you are espousing Figg.
the things that made him ambigous, dangerous, alien, complex, damaged, has gone- Mrs Figg
Remind me again then Figg what the first 8 where.
"didnt press the button."
No he didnt- hes not The Executioner, he is the Doctor, so he found a way to be the Doctor and save the universe- that is kind of his MO for the last 50 years.
I didnt call you risible Figg, only this current argument of yours, and only once- and Im sorry but your current argument is silly as there as been 43 years of show where the Doctor wasnt a guilt ridden war criminal, so arguing that making him so again stops him being the Doctor- well it doesnt make any sense. It didnt stop him being the Doctor before for all those years, how does it do so now?
