OK, if you've successfully installed Chrome, you should see a circle with a blue center and red, yellow and green around the outer part. Try logging off the internet and then clicking on the Chrome circle just like you are used to doing on the "e". It should connect you up again just fine. The buttons will be a little different than you're used to, but it should give you a newer, cleaner "pipe" than the "e" does. Good luck!

Re: Doctor Who [7]
I assume "preferiti" are "favorites". When you get in, there's usually a helpful pop-up that will offer to transfer all of them over for you. I'm afraid I can't give you any more details, but if you google "how to transfer favorites to google chrome" I'm sure you'll find something useful.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
ok thanks for the advice.
I am having nothing but problems since I installed chrome I may have to disinstall it, its not letting me start up Google, and other weird stuff like it transferred my favourites but they are all useless and dont work, and that link still doesnt work so its a waste of time me having chrome. I dont know how to get rid of it though.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
I don't know how your 'puter is set up, but here's my best guess as how to remove Chrome:
Down in the lower right corner of your screen is the "Start" button. Click on it.
One of the items on the list it gives you should be "control panel". Double click it.
That will get you a big menu.
One of them will be called something like "Add or Remove Programs" and have a picture of a CD disk on top of a monitor. Double click it.
Now you'll have a list of ALL your programs in front of you in alphabetical order. Go down to Chrome and click it.
It should give you a "Remove" button which will scrub Chrome off your computer with no harm done.
Of course your 'puter will expect you to do all this in Italian I'm sure. Good luck!

I'm doing my best to be sympathetic to your dilemma, Amarië, but since I'm more than 3 hours away from any place that's showing it, and since I'm not even invited to a party where I could drown my sorrows in good company........ well it kind of seems to me that you're suffering from a multitude of blessings. Let me know which option you choose though, and I'm sure I can find some sympathy for you. Cheers!Amarië wrote:FUUUUUUUCKKK!!!!! Re: Doctor Who [7]
I have to choose the party (it's a double round day birthday celebration) or else that would have been a happy post. Pop corn, projector and webdownload will be nice too. But it would have been fun and delightfully nerdy. It is the only place it will be shown in Norway. Not tv, no other cinema.
So if I read you correctly it's 3 measly hours away, and you can go there if you wanted to. Yeah, I'll shed some tears for you too.

It's not the 3 hour drive to get there that's so bad, It's the 3 hours back...Amarië wrote:

Re: Doctor Who [7]
You've been using IE7, Figg? Oh my god, I am so sorry for you.
By the way, don't bother with Norton: it's shit. A lot of paid antivirus software packages create more problems then they solve. Microsoft Security Essentials used to be pretty good, although a lot of people think the more recent versions aren't very good. Kaspersky is one of the few other anti-virus programs I'd recommend.
Firefox and Chrome are both web browsers, which is what Internet Explorer is. They let you browse the web in the same way that IE does, but they're not godawful abominations of software like IE (or at least, versions of IE before about IE9 or so). They tend to be a lot faster and less buggy.
Edit: missed the last page, sorry Figgy. I don't know what exactly your problems with Chrome were so I'm afraid I can't help you there, though if you want to try to talk through it step by step tomorrow or whenever we're both online at the same time again I'd be glad to try to help.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
I can only agree with what Eldo says regarding Norton - biggest pile of crap I ever had to deal with. Tried to uninstall it once and it fucked up my whole computer. As to web browsers I recommend Firefox. I don't use chrome except for facebook, so can't say anything about that. They're both safer and easier to use than IE, though, and probably just as good. Like Petty said, it boils down to personal preference

Does chrome protect your computer from bugs? or do you need a seperate anti-virus thing because none of them look free to use?

If you have both chrome and IE on your computer do they fight each other? it looks like I can use both, and when I click both icons work, but I dont know if you have to choose one and disinstall the other one. Both seem to work and I just use the 'e' like usual.

You'll need a separate antivirus to protect your computer, but at least with Firefox there is an addon called NoScript which stops malicious websites from installing nasty stuff on your computer. And there are decent free antivirus softwares. I use AVG free, but then again I barely use my computer for other things than reading news, facebook, paying bills and this forum, so if you do visit pages or download stuff that might contain malware you may want to consider paying for a really good one.

As far as I know you can have as many web browsers installed on your computer as you like, though you'll have to make one the standard web browser for your computer (this is easy, when you start up a browser that isn't standard a window will pop up asking you if you'll make it your standard browser).

Great!
It's got a whole range of UK channels to choose from in the top menu, but you've probably discovered that already.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
The Radio Times is putting out 12 separate covers for this weeks edition- one for each Doctor- with the big question being whose the 12th? The Hurt Doctor or Capaldi?
And if its Capaldi will it be the first glimpse at how his Doctor will look?
