Re: Doctor Who [7]
Ooh, it's showing at the one closest to me (less than 10 minutes by car). It's really nice; they're a generic AMC chain theatre but they nab all sorts of cool limited releases and special events. I saw the LOTR EE revival there back in 2011.
Re: Doctor Who [7]
No excuses then Eldo- all you have to do to prepare is watch episode 1 of series 7 and then from the xmas episode of season 7 to the end of the season- only half a dozen episodes.
Youve got a month to do it in!

Re: Doctor Who [7]
I doubt very much the BBC will let SKY show it, but the website that shows BBC might work in Italy, it seems to in Fjordianland, so you can watch it live as broadcast if so.
Ill be putting up the link again nearer the time.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
First up for all the Down Under hobbits-
'November sees a packed line-up of Doctor Who on the UKTV Australia and UKTV New Zealand channels.
3 November:
The Eleventh Hour - AU: 3:20pm (repeated 11:50pm); NZ: 5:20pm (repeated 4 Nov, 4:50am)
10 November:
The Time Of Angels & Flesh And Stone - AU: 2:35pm (repeated 11:50pm); NZ: 4:50pm (repeated 11 Nov, 4:25am)
17 November:
Amy's Choice - AU: 2:25pm; NZ: 4:35pm (repeated 18 Nov, 3:50am)
Asylum of the Daleks - AU: 3:25pm; NZ: 5:30pm (repeated 18 Nov, 4:40am)
Following these screenings, a Doctor Who marathon screening of episodes and specials running for more than 24 hours in total will be played out over the weekend of the anniversary.
One story from each Doctor will be screened, arranged in chronological order, each preceded by the corresponding instalment of Doctor Who Revisited. The episodes of Revisited featuring the three most recent Doctors have never before been screened in Australia or New Zealand.
In addition, Doctor Who 50th: Vivid Sydney will screen on 23 November (AU: 6:15pm, repeated 24 Nov 6:15pm; NZ: 5:40pm). This ten-minute programme features the Doctor Who musical projections that illuminated Sydney's Customs House for the anniversary.
UKTV is also screening four Doctor Who America Specials on Sundays, including The Timey Wimey Stuff of Doctor Who (AU: 10 Nov, 4:30pm); The Science of Doctor Who (NZ: 17 Nov, 6:30pm); The Destinations of Doctor Who (AU: 17 Nov, 4:25pm) and The Women of Doctor Who (NZ: 24 Nov, 6:30pm).
Further episodes scheduled to screen on UKTV in Australia during November include stories from Series One to Three on weekdays at 9:20am, and the first half of Series Seven on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm
Meanwhile, New Zealand also has screenings of episodes from the first half of Series Seven, on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm, with all five episodes repeated twice daily weekdays from 18-22 November.'- Gallifrey Base
So looks like you upside downers are getting well treated in the Who department.
And following Denmark's main TV broadcaster showing series 5-7 there, fans have petitioned for the 50th episode to be shown in Danish cinemas- and they won.
It will be screened by the CinemaX chain on the evening of the 23rd November at branches in Odense, Aarhus and the capital Copenhagen.
Looks like this is well on course to be the largest global TV episode in history- simultaneously broadcast in countries worldwide on TV and in cinemas.
No pressure Moff!

Re: Doctor Who [7]
Anyone listen to the Big Finish audio adventures?
I've been listening to a few odds and ends of Mcgann's stories on youtube ( though there isn't much online I love his doctor already, he's a very underrated actor) and they sound very interesting, however they seem to be rather pricey to buy online.
Does anyone listen to/own any?
I also just finished Hartnell's first season, very good if a bit slow paced in some of the longer serials

I have most of the 8th Doctor audio, just missing the latest stuff.
If you thought Hartnell's era had long serials wait till you get to the 2nd Doctor story War Games- its the entire series (amazing it survived intact really given how much of that era is missing)

Re: Doctor Who [7]
I'm Ok with Long stories...as long as they need to be long! *Not in anyway referring to a certain Bearded New Zealander*
The sensorites for example could have been a hour shorter. I realise TV in the 60's was rather different, but sometimes in the classic Dr Who the pacing seems more about each episode than the story overall.
Wasn't Trial of a Time Lord an entire season?
Say if I could get hold of a few of Mcgann's Audios for a reasonable price would you recommend them to a relative novice of Dr Who? (I would say in general I prefer the darker more sc-fiy/mystery episodes of Doctor Who rather than the pure adventuring/action episodes).

Re: Doctor Who [7]
Like all Who there is a fair mix of story types series to series- and there is a lot of 8th Doctor stuff to cover.
I have the first 6 Big Finish Series and the 4 Series of the Eighth Doctor Adventures. (Meaning that regardless of format the 8th Doctor has more series than any other Doctor, in fact more series of the 8th than there has been so far NuWho entirely)
There are plenty good episodes in there but not sure what I'd recommend. given there are so many of them.

Re: Doctor Who [7]
Wasn't Trial of a Time Lord an entire season?- Malick
Yes and no. Technically yes, the entire series revolves around the Time Lords putting the Doctor on trial- in practise this is done by 'viewing' evidence which take the form of the series stories.
The 2nd Doctor story War Games is just one very long story, fortunately its excellent, despite the length.
It also has one of my all time favourite TARDIS materialisation shots, not done again until the opening materialisation in Series 6 of NuWho Night Terrors.
