Not because there is anything wrong with it- there isn't, its very good- but my niece went through a phase of watching it over and over
I could give you the whole script, sign the songs and probably do the dance moves too at a push.
I love Madagascar! For a second I was worried there, but I can understand why you might not like it now. I used to watch it a lot too when I was younger, and my brother and I still sometimes quote lines from the movie to this day. I think the penguins were my favorite part.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
i remember when I was like .. 12 and we went to the club and they played "i like to move it movie it!" song and omg.. it was just awesome.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
I used to listen to that song all the time. My dad probably got really sick of hearing it but I think he just put up with it.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
I'll have to rent it sometime. Everything I've seen from it is great, and yet it's still a kid's movie so I haven't been able to get myself to see it.

Re: Seen any good films lately?
Well yeah, it's definitely a kids' movie, but it was one of my favorite kids' movies growing up so I'd recommend it anyway.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
I saw and enjoyed the first Ice Age, but I only ever saw Shrek 2 of that series. Not sure why I didn't see the first one; I guess I just missed it.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
the first one is the best, the second one is great too, but from there it goes downhill sadly.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
I like Shrek, Madagascar, and Ice Age. I've only seen the most recent Ice Age and the first one, as well as only the first Madagascar.

Great film.
Mother Superior (the dealer ) always makes me laugh as in my misspent youth I used to know a dealer who went by the name of John the Baptist- on Sundays he always went to his girlfriends mothers for Sunday dinner- so he never sold on Sundays- hence the nick-name.
This is what Thatcherism did to the Scottish mentality for ten years-

Brilliant film Shallow Grave- Danny Boyles first film and in my opinion one of his best.
And luckily for anyone who may have missed it- the whole film is on youtube!

I like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
I guess the only real connection is the British underworld. I like how the Brits make fun of their underworld; the Americans rarely do that.

Re: Seen any good films lately?
I tried watching Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels while I was still woozy from anesthesia after having my wisdom teeth removed and couldn't make heads or tails of it. I've been meaning to give it another try though.
Re: Seen any good films lately?
One of my favourite Uk gangster thngs is not a film but a game- the Getaway- in particular its old skool London Gansgter bad guy.
Watch the opening cutscene- contains strong and racist language.

Re: Seen any good films lately?
I watched Ben Affleck's Argo a few days ago. It's about the efforts by the CIA and the Canadian embassy in Iran to get several Americans out of the country during the hostage crisis in 1979.
A bunch of people recommended this movie to me since they know I'm interested in politics and history. I thought the trailer was really good and the film has racked up a bunch of awards, and is considered the front runner to win Best Picture at the Oscars. I had missed seeing it in theatres, so what did I think now that I finally got to see it?
It's ... kind of disappointing, actually. The film follows the six Americans hiding out in Tehran, the CIA agent planning how to rescue them, and the Hollywood people he's working with, but very few of them feel like developed characters by the end of the movie. Honestly, for a two hour film, it didn't feel like very much happened. The script was based on a magazine article in Wired, which I read a few years ago and is very good, but it adds a bunch of goofy drama and fake contrivances that I thought did more harm than good.
I suppose my biggest problem with the movie was how much of a feel-good film it ended up being. I'd heard a lot about this movie having some sort of resonance given relations between the US and the Muslim world today, but I didn't feel that at all. The characters in the movie go out of their way to point out that the US had kept a brutal dictator in power in Iran for decades, but the way in which they did felt really fake. It doesn't feel like something the characters would actually say, but more like the screenwriter wanted people to be impressed by the moral ambiguity in the story. Instead it comes across as ass-covering.
I didn't hate the movie or anything, and I'd recommend it over many others I saw this year, but I don't feel that it's at all deserving of the praise its received. If you want a political drama about the CIA and Islamic terrorism with genuine moral questions, watch Zero Dark Thirty. That movie makes you think. Argo is a "let's pat ourselves on the back for a job well done" kind of movie, so it's not surprising that it's enjoying more success. It won't leave anybody feeling shaken.
