Looks more like South America and the table tops (Tepuy) they have there.... i.e. Venezuela. Somewhere I have always wanted to go.Eldorion wrote:Damn, those are some incredible photos. Barely even looks like the Grand Canyon in some of them.
Re: Tales of Home [3]
Stunning pictures.
Its usually no more than a twenty minute walk on a cloudy day round here if you want to find yourself inside a cloud (granted thats a steep twenty walk up the way).

Looks like you might be heading for a new ice age, Halfwise.
It's certainly stunning. Though I guess some will find reason to complain that the one day they visit the Grand Canyon it's covered in fog.

Re: Tales of Home [3]
Again?
You do seem to get a lot of them. Will you get completely buried this time?
We're getting one on Thursday. Apparently with as much as 15 cm snow.
Nothing compared to Tromsø, I know.

Those amazing pics of The canyon, imagine the sound of the sea, visualize the fog rolling as waves do, crashing sound of waves, thats how it must have looked once so many years ago, and THAT makes me shudder ! Those pics are beautiful tho

Re: Tales of Home [3]
ok. so the hurtigruta has had problems anchoring up here in Tromsø (it had to seek refuge) a bus has been blown of the road, one of the coastguard is stuck on a rock or something, it was winds up to 29 meters per second, the bridge closes at 32... i wasn't sure it would be a good idea to go to orchestra as i wasn't sure i'de get home but it worked out fine i got the dvd thing from that music thing i was talking about, taking a look at it now the house is creaking, the hail is storming and well.. it has been a fun day... mock-exam tomorrow.

Re: Tales of Home [3]
Well, you have my sympathies whether it is hail, 29 m/s winds and busses blowing off the road or garden gnomes blowing over.
Weather here is as mundane as ever.

Re: Tales of Home [3]
Maybe it's actually a real gnome?

Re: Tales of Home [3]
You Fjordlandians seem to bee taking this quite lightly. A garden ornament of some kind has been shifted out of place. While it would almost lead to a government inquest if it were an actual gnome, please don't underestimate the effect a dislodged garden ornament can have on an English person... especially one that doesn't have the comfort of English neighbourly gnomes to rely on.

Not the royal froggy! Is he ok? I've seen the Gnomeo and Juliette movie (or whatever the original title was...), they are alive you know!

(Also, Lance the sniper kitty confuses me. My friend Rose has used that picture for years, I keep wondering what the picture of her is doing here. Brilliant disguise. )

'The Met Office has upgraded its warnings for high winds which have been forecast to hit much of Scotland on Thursday morning.
The agency had issued a yellow "be aware" warning, but this has been upgraded to amber "be prepared".
It predicted widespread gusts of 60 to 70mph, although these could be as high as 90mph in exposed parts of the north and west.'- BBC
Hmmm, better hammer down the barrel lid!
