Some more info on PJ directing an episode next series.
Apparently he didnt insist it had to be a Dalek story- he wants paid in Dalek- a gold coloured one to be precise.

According to the Radio Times if they can organise it (and I cant imagine the BBC won't) the episode will be shot entirely in NZ with all PJ people from his own company! Mad

Well the Radio Times is a pretty reputable tv magazine with historic connections to the BBC (it used to be their official tv magazine)- they carried the story about Moffat and Pj meeting at TH premiere and discussing it- that PJ wants paid in Dalek and that it would ideally be shot in NZ with PJ's people also seems to be coming from Moffat- so its certainly a highly likely rumour.
But Im still classing it as rumour as there has been no official announcement from the BBC yet.

Though I think I'm generally in agreement, I've got one quibble with your analysis Halfwise....

Women's response to rape is something that men simply can't understand.  Even the threat of homosexual rape to a man brings mainly feelings of rage, not the life-changing horror that the women here have portrayed.  (This may be due to a male being intrinsically more of a fighting animal with a fighting response: at least in his own head.)
I believe many men can understand the horror personally and intimately. Just think about the testimony of all the men and boys that have been testifying against priests recently, or in the Penn State Sandusky scandal. I'd say "life-changing horror" is exactly what many of them are describing.

I'm convinced they're just the tip of the iceberg. It's just that most never speak of it, just as few women spoke up until feminism gave them a support network.

That got a bonafide LOL.

A subtle point to bring out David: I'll accept that men may understand after they've been raped, but most women have the horror whether they've been through it or not. I don't know if this means men think differently or (more likely), they just don't think at all.

And I'd be prepared to recognize that the distinction you're making may be valid IF you had valid data to support it. I suspect it varies regionally and culturally more than you're allowing for.

But I think we're both in agreement that the data we'd have to bring to this discussion would be really ugly stuff, the sort that would probably make me skip my dinner. So how about we shake hands and let the subject rest (at least until we can secure a research grant). Deal?

Assuming he gets given a script and is hired as director to shoot it only I am keen to see the result.
My basic problem with Pj's treatment of Tolkien is the treatment- I have never felt he either understood, or cared to understand, Tolkiens writings, Ive never had a quibble, well ok maybe a quibble but nothing more, with the skill of the directing or cinematography- but he has been a Who fan all his life, and hopefully wont be able to alter the script drastically to put in nothing but endless spectacle.

I tracked down the episode in question! (for research only of course)
The scene is basically a take the piss of Coyote Ugly.
It seems to be one of those shows that satires a whole load of pop culture references.
So its ironic sexy gyrating which makes it all right, its probably even feminist Nod
