The Great Forumshire Story - Page 18 Empty Re: The Great Forumshire Story

Post by Lancebloke Tue Nov 19, 2013 4:26 pm

Small patches of light appeared and disappeared in the distance, some reflecting off of the dark waters of some unknown river or shoreline, others illuminating the trees or hillsides around them. The bright lights of Macau were about four hours behind them when civilisation seemed to reappear. But even then, the names printed on signposts meant nothing. Shagang, Qianhuan, Weiguan.

David eventually pulled their decrepit truck off of the main road a few hundred metres short of a reasonably large bridge. The area around them was evidently part of a dock, however at this time of the night the lighting was as sparse as the number of people in the immediate area.

The truck pulled in to a dark corner of some large warehouse like structures. As the engine stopped and the clicks of the handbrake gave way to silence, David shifted himself sideways to face the team.

Ringo was sat in the front passenger seat next to him. Behind, were Agents Eldorion and Amarie and finally Agents Nora and Figg in the rear seats. Where Ringo had managed to acquire the vehicle, nobody asked.

'Well, this is where the boss said the meeting was taking place,' said David.

'There are several buildings going up to the quays on the shoreline,' added Ringo. 'Satellite imagery picked up a convoy leaving Macau and traced them to a warehouse about three hundred metres away.'

'And Tyrant is in there too,' asked Figg sternly from the back seat.

'Intelligence has identified all of the first tier personalities that we expected,' continued Ringo. 'Orwell, Tyrant, Chris, or C63 as you know him and a few others you haven't come across. Someone relatively new to the big time has only been known by the name Bluebottle. That was designated by the CIA last year after the assassination of the Chief of Police in Chicago.'

Ringo looked across to David who then finished off the list.

'Someone you may have heard of before. 1994, French embassy bombing in Turkey. 1997, attempted assassination on the Mayor of London at a news conference. 2003, revealed as the brains behind a huge people smuggling ring in Australia when he ordered the sinking of a boat containing two hundred Vietnamese immigrants. Most recently, he has been linked with various middle eastern groups with an agenda of distablising the area.'

'Elthir was schooling me about this a few months ago,' said Amarie. 'Doesn't he only go be an initial and surname or something?'

'Yep. Calling cards, intercepted emails and other communications only identify him or her as H. Wise. Since we only have half the name, we have tended to use the designation 'Halfy' which we will continue to do for this operation.'

'Well, that is certainly a tough crowd,' said Norc as she unsheathed her knife and gave it a quick inspection.

'That's not all,' said David. 'We also have confirmation of a primary target that has also traveled. Our primary target is also here.'

'Azriel?' asked Amarie, her voice trembling slightly.

'You betcha,' replied David.

There was a brief silence in the vehicle. In the distance, the faint rolling of waves against the concrete embankment of the docks permeated the air.

'Plan is simple,' said Ringo, snapping everyone away from their thoughts. 'We go in and we go in hard. There will be a handful of security guards around but that's it. Azriel will have wanted as few people involved as possible as she trusts very few and she wouldn't want to draw the attention of the Chinese.'

'We need this to be over as quickly as possible,' said David. 'If we cannot hit the primary target before she has given orders, all other tier one personalities MUST be eliminated. Are we all comfortable with that?'

A combination of nods and verbal confirmations circled the vehicle. Nora was the only one to notice that Figg had done neither.

'Then lets get ready. We move in five minutes.'

Nora looked round at Figg who was doing her best to avoid eye contact with any of the others.

A few minutes later and the truck was empty. The group rounded the corner of the warehouse, Ringo leading the way.

'You can't let this be personal,' whispered Nora as she held back with Agent Figg. There was no reply.

Ringo held up a closed fist to signal the group to stop. Word came back through the line that they would make for a small set of crates and barrels a few yards ahead.

The new vantage point gave a clear view of the target building. A lone guard wandered through the darkness, the orange glow of his cigarette the only evidence that he was there.

They waited as the guard disappeared.

Their hearts pounded as seconds turned to minutes, but still they waited.

'Groups of two, led by me and Ring at thirty second intervals,' said David suddenly. 'We're going in.'

David and Ringo made their way toward a door. Thirty seconds later they were followed by Nora and Amarie.

Figg looked up at the door.

'Let's go,' said Eldorion, the adrenaline taking over his body. 'Come on.'

Figg got up and pulled readied her weapon. She began to move forward as David and Ringo passed inside.

David and Ringo had already subdued a guard by the time Nora and Amarie had entered the warehouse. Ringo relaxed his grip around the man's neck and gently placed him on the floor. David was peering up a dark staircase to the right of the entrance.

'Nora, Amarie, you take the corridor,' said David pointing down the dimmly lit hallway in front of them. Other than a large set of double doors at the far end and a flickering fluorescent ceiling light, the further end of the corridor was empty.

Eldo and Figg came in behind them.

'You two, follow Ringo and I up to the next floor. Let's move.'

With that, the four of them began their ascent to whatever was above. The expression on Figgs face had not changed since the truck. She shot Nora a quick look before disappearing up the stairs.

'Just us again,' said Amarie gingerly. She had clearly not gotten over what had happened in Quito a few days before.

'Right now, I couldn't have asked for a better partner,' replied Nora, half jn reassurance but also because she wasn't convinced about the rest of the team. She was worried for Eldorion. In the state of mind Figg seemed to be in, she might not turn out to be much of a partner. She could get them both killed. David and Ringo seemed ok, but she hadn't worked with them.

'Let's get moving,' she continued as the scuffle of footsteps faded on the staircase above.

The sound of their footsteps echoed between the beaten white walls. The light buzzed as it flickered on and off. The corridor was longer than it had first seemed. It was also a killing zone should anyone appear behind or ahead.

Eventually, they reached the far end. Nora pressed her eat gently against the wood of the door listening for any sign of movement.

'Muffled voices,' she whispered. 'They aren't near the door though.'

She stepped back and pulled her silenced Sig Sauer pistol from her waistband. Amarie did the same.

'I'll go in first, follow my lead.'

Nora gently turned the rusted door knob until the latch gave way. The barrel of her weapon covered the small gap as the door opened.

She slid through the gap in to the next room. Amarie followed close behind.

The staircase opened on to a small landing. On one side, another corridor led through the length of the building. On the other were two doors.

'Figg, Eldorion, you guys clear these rooms. Ringo and I will head further down.'

Neither of them had a chance to acknowledge or protest as Ringo and David made off down the hall.

'Left or right?' Asked Eldo.

Figg made her way toward the door on the left.

'Left it is then,' said Eldo, half under his breath.

Agent Figg had already drawn her hunting knife when she reached the door, immediately entering. Eldo barely had time to go in himself when Figg took down her first target. A man on the far side of a desk had been looking out of the second story window. The surprise on his face quickly turned to horror as 7 inches of steel pierced his chest.

Eldo stood back, watching as Figg retrieved her blade from the bloodied corpse and turned back for the door.

'Figg, what's wrong with you,' he asked as she approached. She gave no answer.

Eldo reached for her arm.

'Fi....'

His words were cut short as the point of her blade poked the skin under his chin.

'Eldo, I suggest you go find one of the other teams.'

He stood, his back firmly against the wall while she disappeared in to the corridor. He couldn't abandon her now, especially in the state of mind she seemed to be in.

He walked back out in to the corridor with his weapon drawn. The right hand door swung on its hinges letting out as rusty creak. He took a deep breath and entered. As he did, the dingy room exploded with light.

The Great Forumshire Story - Page 18 Empty Re: The Great Forumshire Story

David and Ringo entered the doors at the end of the corridor. They opened in to a large, open room that was probably normally used for storing large containers or pallets, however was set out like a conference room. In the center, a number of black leather chairs sat around a large glass table. Only a few of the chairs were occupied and three guards stood in the far corner chatting.

All of this was one floor below them. The agents looked down from a metal balcony that ran around the edges of the warehouse floor. On the far side was another door.

'Looks like the meeting place,' said Ringo. 'Two tier one personalities are already here.'

'Bluebottle and Chris,' said David, looking at the two figures sitting at opposite sides of the table. Many of these criminals had been at war with each other over territory, drugs and a whole host of other things before. The only thing that kept them tearing each other apart now was Azriel.

'What now?'

'I'm sure she we want to have them all here for too long. She is the priority, we dont move until she is here.'

'Hey,' said Ringo as something caught his eye. 'Down there.'

David followed his gaze to a few of the several piles of crates that were dotted around the edges of the room. Behind them, well concealed by the shadows were Nora and Amarie.

'You sure they wont itch their trigger fingers too soon?'

'Amarie seems to have her head screwed on,' replied David. 'And for all her bravado, Nora seems to get it too. It's Figg I am worried about.'

As they watched, the two girls suddenly went ridged. A few feet away, a large door swung open.

'Tyrant,' said Ringo. 'Who's his squeeze?'

'I believe she is known as CC,' replied David.

'I'm not sure if I should be turned on or scared. Look at those boots.'

'They're not alone.'

Behind Tyrant walked two other figures. As they walked in, Nora, who had found herself a little peep hole, had begun to be a little more animated.

'Orwell and Halfy,' said Ringo.

'That only laves one more.'

Tyrant, Orwell and Halfy positioned themselves around the table while the three guards took up position around the room. CC didn't take the last remaining seat.

'Look at her pacing around. Like a lion or something.'

Out of the corner of his eye, David noticed some movement on the far side of the room. The door at the other end of the gantry had been opened. Another guard appeared but instead of noticing the two of them, he surveyed the room below.

'Can he see them?' said Ringo.

'Not yet, but it will only be a matter of time.'

The guard had noticed something in the darkness and seemed to be confused as to what it was. He fixed has gaze and raised the weapon he had been carrying.

'On my mark only, you take care of him and I'll start with the guards. Hopefully Nora and Amarie will get with the program quick enough.'

Ringo raised his weapon and took aim across the gantry. David picked the closest man below.

The large door opened again, catching Nora's attention. She raised her head just long enough to see the a figure standing at the door. The guard's confusion gave them a split second.

'Now.'
