There may have been some discussion Norc in the past, cant seem to fully recall now, something about not giving the monkeys the keys to the banana house, something like that Wink drunken

Mmm I hadn't considered the current imbalance in mods regards gender. I live in hope Ally is just too cool to visit right now but will be back. But you may actually have a point there Norc. Shocked (And it is a bit much Amarie having to do all the cleaning, washing and meal making, she could probably do with some help Nod  )

We can't create a new OP for you, Lance, but you can edit the table of contents into the existing OP.  Or a mod could do that for you. Smile

As for gender balance, I've made that a consideration when choosing mods, along with length of time on the forum, extent of contributions, and time zones.  However, I don't think we need any more mods at the moment, especially because a bunch of you guys gave me shit when we promoted Ally and said it meant there were too many mods. Razz It's unfortunate that Ally has been absent from the forum, but I hope very much that she will come back in the not too distant future. Smile

Edit: A quick refresher on mod history.  When the new forum started, the only mods were GB (who had previously been a mod and the de facto leader on the old forum) and myself, as the technical admin.  After a few months GB started to drift away, so I promoted Baingil (who had already been doing behind-the-scenes technical work, so she also had admin access) and Petty, who had really stepped up in terms of activity and community leadership.  Several months later, Baingil had left the forum, so we added Orwell and Amarie as mods.  This time the choice of one male and one female was an intentional one, in addition to other reasons why Orwell and Amarie made sense.  This is still the main mod line-up, but when I felt that we should add another one, I wanted to choose a female, though that was far from the only consideration that led us to pick Ally.

It's because that test said I had a slightly male brain because I was not afraid to back up with a car, isn't it? Sad

Anyhow, I added the list of links to the first post. Now I am wondering why Lance didn't do that himself... Oh well.

Then I started adding links to chapter 3 at the end of chapter two etc, since it makes for easier reading, but then figured I didn't have time to do more of that now. Wink

Typical female, begins a task but never finishes it.
Unlike the typical male who avoids the whole tangled mess by never beginning any task in the first place and going down the pub instead Nod drunken

Lance do you mind if I print this out? I've been doing way too much on the pc recently and my eyes are starting to melt down my cheeks- would be more relaxing to read it lying on the couch or something as I still have the last two instalments to read, and I really want to read them, I just want to do it in comfort.

The Great Forumshire Story - Page 19 Empty Re: The Great Forumshire Story

Post by Lancebloke Thu Nov 28, 2013 5:46 pm

The air was thick with pieces of plasterboard, wood and glass as the room was peppered with the metal slugs from the four barrels pointing across the open space. Each and every shot echoed around the room, creating an unceasing clamour. A fifth and sixth barrel hadn't been able to unleash their own torrents are their bearers were felled.

Agent Figg had used the element of surprise to pick off the first two with her Sig Sauer before ducking behind a thick wooden desk that separated the nearest end of the room with the rest. The open door shattered as one of the guards spotted Eldorion's head poking around the door. He jumped back in to relative safety of the corridor. Agent Figg shook her head at him, a look of anger almost psychotic, was on her face.

She did not stay there for long. One or more of the shooters had needed to reload, giving her the opportunity she had been waiting for. She popped up from behind the desk and unloaded several shots before disappearing through an open door on the far side of the room. Her targets responded in kind, piercing the wall and wooden door frame as they trailed her figure by a matter of centimeters.

Agent Eldorion took his chance too, popping around the door once more. Only two of the four men were still standing, both still firing toward the far door. Both dropped like rag dolls as his bullets passed through their bodies.

He had never killed anyone before. Regardless of their intent, two people were dead because of him. People that may have had innocent family that they were leaving behind. People who's lives would be changed forever because of him. For now, he couldn't think about that. His friend was in danger. And, with the noise that had just been unleashed, it was likely all of his friends would be in danger too, if they weren't already.

He dropped the clip from his weapon and loaded a fresh one. Whatever came next, he was likely to need a full load. With a deep breath, he stepped across the room and through the open door.
