I'd fallen way behind on this, but I caught up with everything and I'm really impressed, Lance! It's great to see a different sort of forum fanfic with a more serious style and tone. Nod

Agents Amarie and Nora had watched the room slowly fill up. A few guards had been sidetracked until Tyrant and Orwell entered the room. Along with Halfy, Bluebottle and Chris there was only one person left to join the room.

Nora looked at Amarie who seemed surprisingly calm. Nora, however wasn't. She was worried, but not for her own safety. She knew that even without Nora, she would dish out more damage than she would take... even if that meant her life. No, this was what she had signed up for. These moments were what she lived for. She was worried about Figg and even more so, about Eldorion. It had taken away her edge.

It was a second before she noticed the large entrance had swung open. Amarie was already primed, her weapon drawn and every muscle awaiting the command to spring. This Amarie was completely different to the one that had crumbled in Quito.

Nora peered over the top of the crate they had been using for cover. There was only one person left to enter the room, someone she had never seen.

She squinted to try and see the silhouette more clearly but all she could make out was a tall female shape. It looked almost ethereal with the bright light behind and an unnaturally pure white toneto the long, flowing hair that began to come in to focus and Nora's eyes adjusted.

But she didn't have time to adjust fully. A guard on the far side of the room crumpled as the room above them exploded with noise. A metallic crash above drew her eyes toward another crumpled guard on the far side of the room, however this one on a gantry above.

The response from the lower level was emphatic. A mix of pistols, shotguns and small automatic weapons unleashed a torrent of lead toward the gantry above them.

Amarie had already taken advantage of the situation as everyone in the room focused on their targets above. She dropped a hugely built man who had been firing a heavy gauge shotgun from not far in front of her before turning her attention to the middle of the room.

Nora was yet to fire a shot but instead of following Amarie's lead, she looked back toward the door. There, almost unmoved still the figure, now as clear as day. Her skin was almost as white as her hair, her eyes dark with small, circular tattoos just below the left eye. Her clothes were black and flowed loosely around her, catching the breeze coming from the room behind.

She turned and faced Nora, her eyes piercing the dust and smoke that was filling the room. The corner of her mouth began to raise slowly in to a half smile, but her eyes remained unchanged. Nora could almost feel her across the room.

'Azriel,' she whispered, raising her weapon in the direction of the door. As she did so, a glint caught her eye. She turned her head to see the shining silver of two pistols pointed in her direction. Behind them were a pair of very different eyes. The weapons recoiled violently as CC pulled the triggers. The far side of the crate shattered as the large calibre rounds smashed through the wood. Nora dropped to the floor, finding Amarie similarly subdued.

'If we stay here we are dead,' said Amarie. She was right.

'We have to stand our ground,' replied Nora. 'There isn't any way out without getting shot in the back.'

Amarie took a deep breath.

'Okay,'

The anti-shock rubber soles of his special forces grade boots were almost silent on the shaky metal staircase that stood outside of the building. Figg had made her way out and was already somewhere in the shadows below him, though he could not see where.

As he reached the ground, Eldorion slowly moved between the pool of expensive looking cars that sat in the open area behind the warehouse. A few large, black Range Rovers, a silver Audi R8 and a mixture of executive BMWs and Mercedes would have hinted to anyone that something unusual was happening behind the thick, corrugated walls.

He wondered at what was going on with the rest of the team inside. The warehouse itself didn't seem to be too big so he was surprised that there hadn't been any sound or sign of commotion. Had some of them been captured? Would David and Ringo let the others be caught rather than reveal themselves and scupper the mission?

The warehouse had formed an L shape around the open area. On the far side of the L was a large double door. Given the length of the various corridors the rest of the team had taken, it was a safe bet to assume they were somewhere near that side of the building.

He approached the door, surveying the shadows for any sign of Agent Figg. He did not get to look for long as the door swung outwards. Eldorion quickly hid himself behind a piece of rusty equipment, presumably related to the docks and looked out from the darkness.

The stillness that had enveloped the area had immediately turned to chaos. At first, only three figures appeared from the doorway, two guards and a female with long, white hair. All three made directly for one of the Range Rovers. They were closely followed by some faces that Eldo did recognise.

Between a third guard and one of their targets, Chris, was Bluebottle. He seemed to have taken a shot to the chest but was still alive and very much coherent. Close behind was Orwell.

'Tyrant, get your dog on a leash and get the hell out of here,' he shouted looking back toward the interior of the building.

The clamour got louder as bright flickers illuminated the ground around the door.

The woman with the white hair, could that have been Azriel? While he was hopelessly outgunned, he wondered if he should be taking the opportunity to take out the number one target and hope his friends would be out to help in time.

Engines began to rumble as the getaway began. It could be years before anyone had this chance again, or maybe never. Agent Eldorion raised his weapon and moved in to view of the woman's vehicle. The movement of the wheels was greeted with several shots at the drivers window, with several more towards the center of the car. Eldo hoped that he would be able to disable the driver and hopefully get some shots in to whoever was in the back seat.

It may have been because he could not see them, or simply because he had killed before, but as the car veered in to the back of one of the parked BMWs, all he felt was satisfaction albeit brief. The snaps that accompanied the path of a supersonic bullet passed close by his head. Someone had seen him and was shooting back.

Eldorion ducked back behind the machinery and changed the clip in his weapon. The rear door of the Range Rover opened but he could not see who had exited the vehicle. He needed to finish the job.

He took a deep breath and stood up.

The first two guards dropped as quickly as planned, both crumpling like puppets that had had their strings cut. But the reaction from the rest of the room had been quicker than they expected.

The gantry above the room offered little protection from the barrage of bullets that was aimed their way. Sparks flew off of the metal railings and pieces of concrete exploded from the wall behind them.

'Well this is going as I thought,' said Ringo as he tried to pick a target.

'You are too much of a perfectionist,' replied David calmly as he unloaded his clip in the general direction of the lower floor. 'Get some rounds down range, we need to suppress the bastards if we want a chance of killing them.'

The destruction that had been unfolding around them seemed to die down a little.

'Looks like the girls are doing it for us,' said Ringo. 'Check out Amarie.'

David took a quick look down as he dropped the empty clip from his pistol, quickly slamming another one in. The occupants below had noticed that they were also being fired at from the direction of the crates and had turned their attention, however not quickly enough to stop a few being hit.

'Girl in knee high boots, of girl that knows how to handle a gun?' he added, now finding it easier to pick targets as he dropped a black suited man aiming a shotgun toward the crates.

'How about one with both,' replied David. He had spotted CC who was one of the few that hadn't forgotten them up on the gantry. 'Cover yourself!'

Ringo had been tracking a target below and hadn't noticed how exposed he was. He pulled the trigger, hitting one of the primary targets in the shoulder just before the round entered his knee cap, blowing the shattered bone throughout his leg. He dropped to the floor immediately.

'Arghhhh! God damn it!'

David emptied the rest of his clip as the room below began to empty. There was no more fire coming in their direction.

'Ringo you moron. Why is it always you?'

'It's not a successful operation without me getting shot,' he replied, gritting his teeth.

'Well, let's take a look.'

Ringo straightened his leg and rolled up his blood soaked combat fatigues. The pain shot through his body as if it wasn't just his knee that had been hit.

'Well, you're knee is fucked up. But you aint gonna die and you aint gonna lose your leg.'

'Great.'

David pulled a roll of gauze out of a pouch on his belt.

'You know know how to take care of yourself,' he said.

'Get going, those bad guys aren't going to kill themselves.'

David patted him on the shoulder and got up. One of the stacks of crates was high enough for him to jump down on to.

'Nora! Amarie!'

The girls were at the large set of double doors which had been used as an exit route by their group of targets.

'Where is Ringo?' asked Amarie with a worried look.

'Don't worry, he is out of the fight but he is good.'

'Good,' said Nora, leaning out from the cover of the wall and firing her weapon. Her target responded in kind, the snaps of the bullets passing them. 'We need to get after them.'

'We don't have time to go any other route,' said Amarie.

'Head on it is then,' said David.

Nora didn't need telling twice as she crossed the opening of the door, entering a short corridor on the far wall. David and Amarie followed her, firing their weapons at silhouettes at the other end.

'Bullets tend to ride the walls, stay toward the middle,' said David.

They moved forward approaching the door. As they did, a body slammed against the floor on the far side. Al three of them recognised CC even with the blood streaming from her nose. They also recognised the figure that appeared standing above her.

'Figg,' shouted Nora as she watched CC pull out a large bladed knife and lunge forward.

The Great Forumshire Story - Page 20 Empty Re: The Great Forumshire Story

Post by Lancebloke Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:56 pm

Eldo had seen it all as he stood up.

Figg had appeared from the shadows and in one smooth motion, leapt on to a small block on concrete and in to the air, the rubber sole of her boot embedding itself in to CC's chest. It was a miracle that she was still standing as the foot was followed by a stiff elbow that shattered CC's nose. This time she stumbled backwards and fell to the ground.

Tyrant stood close to the action, the look on his face seemed confused as if torn in thought.

'Leave her,' shouted Orwell as he opened the door of a silver Mercedes. Tyrant didn't reply, he watched as Figg stood over CC.

'Where is agent Lee?' she shouted.

In all the nervousness of the mission, Eldo had completely forgotten about Lee.

'Don't worry about agent Lee,' replied CC. 'I took good care of her.'

As she finished her sentence, she leapt forward. The glint of a blade reflected the headlights of Orwell's car. It was Figg's turn to hit the floor as she dodged CC, but tripped over the lump of concrete that was now behind her.

'Too easy,' said CC as she raised the blade. In the light, Eldo could make out the thin layer of blood smeared on the cold steel. She licked the knife, staring at Figg like she was a wounded animal that needed putting out of it's misery.

Eldo raised his pistol, moving to try and get a clear shot. His movement was answered by a volley of fire coming from behind an the open door of the crashed Range Rover. The fresh noise caught the attention of Orwell, who was still standing by the door of the car, and Chris who was making his way toward the Range Rover. He dropped back behind cover again.

His body had seemed to run out of adrenaline. He had forgotten about a fellow agent and had not been able to help another, both of which were part of his mission. He was outflanked and pinned. He had failed everyone.

Figg looked CC in the eyes. The pain in her abdomen subsided, almost becoming numb. Surprisingly, there was very little blood and the wound had already begun to coagulate.

'You have a pretty smile, I'll give you that,' said CC. 'We should do something about that.'

Figg yelled in pain as the heel of CC's long, black boot slammed down on her ankle, something she had not prepared to defend.

'What's the matter Figg, getting a little too much for you?'

The sentence was clearly not meant as a question.

'Let's get this finished then, shall we?'

'Enough,' came a voice behind her. The deep rumble and Scottish accent were unmistakable. 'Let's go CC.'

CC turned toward Tyrant who had been standing only a few feet away. Figg had seen him as he walked past earlier but had been so embroiled in her battle that she hadn't noticed him standing there.

'Not this time Tyrant,' CC replied. 'This time she dies.'

'CC, let's go. Now!'

CC looked back at him playfully, tapping the knife against her bottom lip. As she looked back, the smile on her face turned to a scowl, her teeth visibly gritted.

Figg braced herself as CC lunged. She expected the feeling every millimetre of the cold metal as it penetrated her skin and muscles tissue and ground against her bone deep inside. Instead, the full weight of CC's body crashed down on top of her.

Figg winced as the weight compressed her ankle, which was likely broken, but there was nothing more. She pushed CC's limp body off of her, looking for Tyrant. She found him a few feet away crumpled on the floor. Nora was at his side, looking back toward her.

'What happened?' she asked.

'Orwell,' replied Nora, nodding in the direction of a black Range Rover. 'You okay to seem to Tyrant?'

'Yeah, go get him.'

Nora nodded and called Amarie who had been in cover firing at something with David off to her right. As the two of them made off, Figg crawled over to Tyrant. Regular clouds of mist puffed from his lips as he lay there. He was still alive.

He wasn't scared any more, he was angry. A second wave of energy began to tingle up his spine as his adrenal gland began to secrete another dose of adrenaline. As the feeling reached his brain, Eldorion lost all sense of self. He stood up from behind cover, aiming his weapon at the one of the guards that had begun to move from Azriel's Range Rover. Three small, claret patches exploded in his chest before he crumpled to the ground.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Chris pop up from behind cover with a long barreled rifle and fire towards the door. Eldo squeezed the trigger three more times, showering Chris in sparks and the rounds impacted the metal contraption he had been using for cover.

The rumble of an engine took his attention next. Orwell had given up on the Range Rover and had returned to his Mercedes. A cloud of dust enveloped the sky as the car's wheels span and he disappeared around the side of the building.

A second rumble came from nearby, this time from a dark BMW M5. As the second car sped away, Eldo saw the face of the driver. It was Nora.

Amarie and David came running across the open ground in front of Eldorion.

'Eldo,' shouted Amarie. 'I couldn't stop her.'

'Get after her,' said David. 'We'll mop up here.'

'Watch out behind that cover,' replied Eldo, nodding to where Chris had been lurking before turning to the Range Rover. 'And Azriel was in the there.'

'We got them.'

He would have to make up some seconds if he were to help Nora in her pursuit. Both of their cars were executive cars tweaked for speed. Eldo choose a car that was designed solely for speed.

The key was already in the ignition, its former occupant probably having never expected to need to protect his toy from thieves. The 6.5 litre V12 roared in to life as he brought the car to life. He pulled the gear shift paddle to change in to second gear, taking the car out from between the warehouses and on to the road. The black Lambourghini Aventedor disappeared in to the night.
