Oh, I'm going to give into the temptation.

Sick of some of these quote.

Halfy - the worry is no plan for the oversight of these school has been made, they cost extra, are not properly audited and don't follow the rules they are supposed to. Gove has refused to rule out allowing free schools to be run for profit in the future.

Bbc article

Links to a few relevant article Here

On a side note, - Thornhill, the school in educating Yorkshire, is an academy an is rated as good. On their website is a letter from instead saying they won't be inspected till at least 2014 (last inspection 2010). This at a time when the ofsted schedule has been changed and tightened up,and many schools are finding themselves inspected very two years.

Just starting to watch the vid but read the article (both your links seem to go to the same article) I had no idea what they were up to and the budgets, and the private sector involvement was so secretive
I thought the govt were selling this on transparency and parents having control?

Fixed Beeb link, must not have copied it right.

My biggest worry with all this is I think very few of those not actually in the education system really realise what and how all this happens. We are in danger of dismantling the education system in this country and it will take decades to reverse if there is ever the will to do it. A lot of people accuse teachers of scaremongering and it is true a lot of academies still follow the national curriculum and pay and conditions, but they don't have to and the local authority can do nothing about it if the school is failing.

The local special school (one of the few that is left) has become an academy recently. The lea now have to pay for students to go there (out of a budget that will have been reduced as some of it will have been to fund this school.) financially this may ,are sense, but the upshot is we have a pupil who needs to be there, was all set to go, but now can't and is back in mainstream.

Watched the vid- he is an even bigger tosser than I already thought he was, and thats quite an achievement- thank god he doesnt have influence north of the border- but Im so sorry you have this as the minister in charge of your schools Kafria- it sounds like a compete dispiriting disaster.
No wonder you are going on strike. You have my moral support on that one for what is worth.

It's basically a GIF with sound. Also easier to make/upload than GIFs for non-technically inclined people.

Check out this eagle's eye-view of the French Alps.  Be sure to watch with Steve Miller (or, if you prefer, Iron Maiden) playing in the background. Very Happy

Odd thing about the Alps, well about me actually now I think about it, I dont like their bottoms.
I like the tops of the Alps- excellent mountainy look, but I dont like the sudden drop off and sheerness of the bottom. Odd, but true.
