You know, Julia, at the risk of getting too deeply philosophical about it all, I find that the more butch women become, the less sexually inclined I am toward them. For instance, women who wear overalls, stout boots, and grow beards, don't really appeal to me, except as drinking buddies. I worked a shift once with one such butch woman (admittedly, she hadn't grown a beard, yet) and I happened to express admiration for a lass as we drove past her in the divvy van. My partner was even more admiring than I was and it left me feeling quite strange. Women having quite sexualised thoughts about women and sharing them with me. I didn't know what to make of it. I'm open intellectually, I think, but it showed me I may not be quite so open viscerally speaking. Does that make me homophobic, I wonder?
