Popping back in to share some good news. Very Happy My university's graduation ceremony was today. We all drove down to the city and I put on the cap and gown despite it being hot and muggy. I decided the night before to forego dressy clothes and just rock the sandals and shorts under the gown, which helped make the temperature not feel so bad. Razz The ceremony plus line-up and procession was like four hours but it was actually really nice. Smile

Tales of Home [2] - Page 7 Sm3BSBF

Here's me all decked out with my academic regalia and assorted bling (albeit messed up by the wind outside). I had the opportunity to get and wear even more shit but I decided not to be too ostentatious. (For those not familiar with US academic regalia, everything but the plain black gown and the mortar board cap is extra, usually associated with honors Razz).

Tales of Home [2] - Page 7 OdACxen

The day before graduation the Honors College had a separate ceremony for graduating ceremony that I attended (with my family in the audience). It wasn't a cap and gown event so I wore a suit instead. This is me posing with my brother like a bro after the event. Very Happy

Fun story: during the ceremony all the graduating seniors went on stage to receive a medallion from the Honors College (visible in picture #1). Right before we went up, we were informed that we had to say a few words about our plans for the upcoming year. Most people mentioned jobs or grad school, a substantial minority said they had no idea yet (I fall into that category), and a handful cracked jokes. I couldn't decide what to say until right before it was my turn, at which point I walked up to the microphone and, being nervous and sick and not really seeing anyone around me, said, "I'm going to Disney World." Cool *

That got the loudest laugh of anyone's comments and a bunch of people came up to me after the event to mention it. Laughing The best part is that we really are going to Disney World this summer, as well as the nearby Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida. Very Happy
