- What he actually gave us was a 45 minute prequel to the 50th Anniversary episode.
What follows is my favourite bit of Matt Smith performance ever as Clara tells him that the GI has taken his friends to Trenzalore- the Doctor breaks down.
Its so suprising and so shocking, and so well played by Matt that its a very moving moment.
i almost lost it...

actually, i loved the ep, and it's a bit clearer, although i did understand the plot, i was just so confused, cus i expected something completely els
i just have one question. who where the Great Inteligence, again? what ep are they from, i can't remember. Also why would they wanna do that to the doctor, why rewrite everything? it could backfire, are they stupid? and what's their motivation?

- The Great Intelligence was a reoccuring enemy of the second Doctor- one of the 'Old Gods', like the Could've Been King and Nightmare Child that broke through in the last days of theTime War- the GI was trapped in this universe but incorpreal.
Most recently it was the baddie in the xmas Snowman episode. And he was behind the harvesting of human minds in the Bells of St John.
Basically the Doctor has thwatrted him unknown amount of times throughout time. His motivation is to kill himelf and in doing so know he has undone completely the Doctor- "It will only kill me, it will destroy you."

Ive been thiking about something to do withthe final epiosde and how it relates to the fields of Trenzalore and the fall of the 11th.
- Spoiler:
- We know Trenzalore is the location of the Doctors Last battle and of his Tomb.
But when he lands the Tardis by basically crashing her, he cracks a pane in th glass, and the viewers attention is drawn to it.
And his future TARDIS tomb still has the same cracked pane, it also has the same interior as the current.
This leads me to only two conclusions- the events on Trenzalore happen to the 11th and as its his tomb and his entire time line, past and future- then Smith willl be the last Doctor ever!
Or the TARDIS as she was dying choose to make herself look like she looked when she came here with the Doctor as a way to let him know she wasnt quite dead yet.
