here is my official Dream Team for the next Doctor and assistant. Joe Gilgun and Emma. you saw it first here.
HE IS PERFECT, he has the lot, quirkness and charm, he can be one minute childlike and joshing the next a sociopathical killer, he has edge and grit with a gentle and witty vibe.

Never heard of him. (Mind you thats a good thing- I much prefer when they cast a reletive unknown like Smith- it means there are fewer preconceptions brought to it- I also hope they look to a theatre actor again too)

Well he sounds the right sort. Psycho and sweet- that not a bad description of a character that saves millions regularly but is capable of genocide.

As you may or may not be aware the special effects company behind Who's effects for many years (and many other shows including Sherlock), The Mill, went out of business.
Today the BBC announced which company would be taking over- and it went to Milk- a new company formed by many of the leading members of the defunct Mill.

They have a showreel on their webpage-

http://www.milk-vfx.com/

So basically same people with a new company.

If there is ever a female doctor, I have only one request.

I want her to find her new outfit, and then go to put her sonic in her jacket. And then, the sonic falls to the floor. And she looks down, and realizes she has no jacket pockets.

So then every episode her sonic moves. Like one day it’s in her hair, and then her belt, and then tucked into her shirt, and she just constantly complains about the lack of pockets.

The Radio Times have complied a list of possible new Doctors- and rather than the wild free for all speculation of the bookies they have gone for a more sensible approch, choosing lesser known actors (as Tennant and Smith were when cast) and actors who have sme association with Moffat-

Richard Coyle, Ben Mills, Richard Mylan, Andrew Scott, Paterson Joseph, Lara Pulver

I wouldnt be suprised for one of this lot to get the job- Scott and Paterson would be the two out of that lot I think would be best.

Yeah, both have done only small roles if prominant, both have a good background in theatre I believe, and both are known to Moffat.
More likely than Rupert Grint or Billie Piper if you ask me.

ok. Ben Mills is very cute and would look good as the Doctor. Lara is the best choice if it has to be a woman, Paterson is the bet choice if it has to be a Black guy, Andrew Scott is totally wrong. He has psycho eyes and not in a good way. He is a charismatic actor but he is too weird and hard edged. The Doctor has a playful kooky side. The two Richards I dont know, but they dont look right.

I think a black Doctor is perfectly acceptable but presents writing problems- take an episode like the Impossible Astronut, then imagine its a black Doctor who just turns up in the oval office in the 1960's- and you have a different story.
And I dont want historically based episodes to have to deal with the race issue every time- its not what Who is about any more than Lets Kill Hitler should have been about the Holocaust.

The same problem occurs with a female Doctor, gender issues will arise when she goes into the past, and the show in order to remain credible will be forced to deal with these issues.

I dont really fancy that sort of Who.
