Mrs Figg you challenged me to find feminists defending Miley's sexualised performance- all I did was quote such a feminist- none of it was my opinion.
As Eldo correctly points out, and as I stated, I only discovered the term slutshaming as a feminist definition of something from the comments section on the blog I copied and pasted (which is why its posted immediately after the first post- I had made the first post before reading the comments section). And I had to google for a definition, as the term was wholly new to me.

The post where I say it of you is tongue in cheek- I thought the exclamation mark indicating my surprise at this term existing at all conveyed that I was not accusing you of it- but I was pointing out there are feminists out there who do hold that view and who presumably would therefore think your view was anti-feminist if you felt Miley's performance as inappropriate.

You are shooting the messenger here.

I'd like to point out that Mrs Figg has challenged you to do many things Petty, (some of them quite rude Embarassed) and none of them have sounded like a good idea to me!

Well I finally got around to watching the video, only seen bits and pieces before. The main thing I got is that every dance routine involving Miley was an absolute mess. She can't dance to save her soul.

Yeah, and some things shouldn't have been in there given the TV audience, but if she put them in she could at least have taken the time to make it look good. What an embarassing mess, but I repeat myself.

Oh yeah its bloody terrible- at least a performer like Madonna could dance and generally was making some sort of deliberate, planned statement about something, as well as simulating sexual acts for our entertainment. Nod

at least Madonna did it to irritate and annoy the establishment, its a bit like Duchamps urinal, once its been done everyone later who tries to use shock as a statement or as a way to gain attention seems like a lame copycat. its an empty statement.

'An empty statement'- that sums up rather well my general feelings towards modern popular music Mrs Figg.

I didn't care much for Madonna. Shallow use of topicality for canny money making.

More than 300,000 attempts were made to access pornographic websites at the Houses of Parliament in the past year, official records suggest.
It is unclear whether MPs, peers or other staff are responsible, House of Commons officials said.
A Commons spokeswoman said: "We do not consider the data to provide an accurate representation of the number of purposeful requests made by network users."
This was because there was a "variety of ways in which websites can be designed to act, react and interact and due to the potential operation of third party software," she said. - BBC

That's a pathetic attempt at an excuse by the civil servant Laughing

And whilst this goes on Cameron crusades and tells us anyone who wants adult websites will have to 'opt in' and put their name on a big government database, I wonder if that will include Ministers?

I'm probably in the minority, but I really liked that movie (Friends with Benefits).  Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake had great onscreen chemistry and it was actually quite funny. Laughing

Just noticed this line. I can't believe this is even being suggested. In America anyone who tried that would be tarred and feathered.

Yeah well if he gets his way (and it looks like he will) anyone that wants a wank will have to register with the government first.
Just as well a big database full of names and address of everyone who wants 'adult material' would never be susceptible to abuse, hacking or blackmail. Rolling Eyes

I except in the future anyone who says anything bad about the government or stand to oppose them can expect to see their name in the Daily Mail (the newspaper of the Conservative party) next to a list of all the porn sites they have ever visited in their life.
But that ok, we are protecting our children dont you know.
