The Hobbit on home video
With the DVD/Blu-ray release date apparently set for sometime in March or April, TORn posted this preview of the Blu-ray cover on their Facebook feed. Unlike the LOTR DVDs, it doesn't seem to be based on any previously released posters or publicity photos. The Extended Edition will follow in October.
Is anyone planning on picking this up when it comes out, and if so in what format? I plan on getting the Blu-ray, but I'll probably wait a few months until the price comes down. I might just wait for the EEs, anyway.

Re: The Hobbit on home video
Thanks, I hadn't seen that. I added the bit about the EE to the first post.
Since I felt that the film was bloated as it is I'm not sure if the EE will help matters or not. I'd like to see it before making a decision about what to purchase, but unfortunately the last video store in my area closed a year or so ago. With any luck the EE will be on Netflix, or at least Amazon Instant where it's cheaper.

Home video
Thought you had made your own movie Eldo.
Was interested to see what part you played
What part would you have played ?

Re: The Hobbit on home video
Haha, nah, home video is just a term for the home releases. I guess it's a bit outdated since we haven't used video in almost a decade now.
I doubt I can act worth shit but I would've liked playing a Hobbit since I am already one in all but size. (With apologies to JRRT.)

Re: The Hobbit on home video

TORn is now reporting that the cover may be a fake.

Re: The Hobbit on home video
Seems like the earlier cover art turned out to be real after all (for now ).
There's an alternate Special Edition cover. This is not the same as the Extended Edition, but the DVD version of the Theatrical Edition. It is set for the same release date as the other versions of the Theatrical Edition in March.

Norc wrote:yeah, but what? is the movie finished?
Probably not. The "first look" will most likely be an extended trailer or series of clips from the movie that are finished, though. Like what they did at Comic-Con, except streaming online.

Re: The Hobbit on home video
I think it's fan art, so not necessarily the official design from the movies.

Re: The Hobbit on home video
What rating was Th in the cinema? I never bothered noticing.
However in reply to something over on Bree I went and did a count of the more severe violence in the goblin town sequence- which I knew had a fair bit- but I have to say I was actually quite shocked when I counted it all up- heres the post from Bree-
These are featured, not just general deaths, of which there are many, many more. So when I list an impaled statistic, its a clear impalement, sword right through and visibly out the back. You could call this a list of the 'featured' deaths-
GOBLIN TOWN-
IMPALMENTS- IIIIIIIIII (10)
DECAPITATIONS-IIIIII (6)
DISMEMBERMENTS-IIIII (5)
And technically the Goblin King's death propably counts as a DISEMBOWLMENT.
Maybe I am just getting old- but for a film based on a book with a reading age of about 7 and up does that not seem a mite inappropriate to anyone else? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre probably scores lower.
