Re: Doctor Who [4]
As always with a Moffat script there were some great bits of dialogue in Bells of St John- here's some of my favourites-
- Spoiler:
- Paul: They call him the Mad Monk, don't they?
The Abbott: They shouldn't. He's definitely not a monk.
(phone conversation)
Clara: It's gone. The internet. Can't find it anywhere. Where is it?
The Doctor: The internet?
Clara: Yes, the internet. Why don't I have the internet?
The Doctor: It's 1207!
Clara: I've got half past three. Am I phoning a different time zone?
The Doctor: Yeah, you really sort of are.
Miss Kizlet: I'm ever so fond of Alexei, but my conscience says we should probably kill him.
Mahler: I'll inform HR.
Miss Kizlet: Actually, he's about to go on holiday. Kill him when he gets back. Let's not be unreasonable.
Clara: What did I miss?
The Doctor: Oh! Quite a lot, actually. Angie called. She's going to stay over at Nina's. Apparently that's all completely fine and you shouldn't worry like you always do, for God's sake, get off her back. Also, your dad phoned. Mainly about the government. He seems very cross with them. I've got several pages on that. I said I'd look into it. I fixed that rattling noise in the washing machine, indexed the kitchen cupboards, optimized the photosynthesis in the main flower bed and assembled the quadricycle.
Clara: Assembled the what?
The Doctor: I found a disassembled quadricycle in the garage.
Clara: I don't think you did.
The Doctor: I invented the quadricycle.
Clara: What's going on? Is the WiFi switching on the lights?
The Doctor: No, the people are switching on the lights. The WiFi is switching on the people.
Mahler: Do we need another London-wide activation? We can't always pass it off as a riot.
Clara: What's going on? Is this real? Please tell me what is happening!
The Doctor: I'm The Doctor. I'm an alien from outer space. I'm one thousand years old, I've got two hearts and I can't fly a plane! Can you?
Clara: No.
The Doctor: Oh. Fine. Well let's do it together.
Mahler: What's happening?
Alexei: Blue box. Southbank. Definitely wasn't there five minutes ago.
Mahler: Are we sure this time? Earl's Court was an embarrassment.
(one of the few remaining genuine police boxes is in Earls Court)
Clara: So what happens if you do find them? What happens then?
The Doctor: I don't know. I can't tell the future, I just work there.
Clara: You don't have a plan?
The Doctor: Oh, you know what I always say about plans.
Clara: What?
The Doctor: I don't have one.
The Doctor: It's obscene. It's murder.
Miss Kizlet: It's life. The farmer tends his flock like a loving parent. The abattoir is not a contradiction. No one loves cattle more than Burger King.
Man with Chips: Really, Doctor? A motorbike. It hardly seems like you.
The Doctor: I rode this in the Anti-Grav Olympics, 2074. I came last.
Man with Chips: The building is in lock-down. I'm afraid you're not coming in.
The Doctor: Did you even hear the word, "anti-grav"?
The Doctor: You hack people. But me, I'm old-fashioned. I hack technology.
The Doctor: She died. So you're returning the favor. But 101 Places to See, and you haven't been to any of them, have you? That's why you keep the book.
Clara: I keep the book because I'm still going.
The Doctor: But you don't run out on the people you care about. Wish I was more like that.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
I just got a letter- a handwritten one no less- in the post. It was from my brother (who only lives along the road and I talk to most days on messenger) so I was a little puzzled.
But no, he is a genius, he sent it with a commerative Doctor Who 50th Aniversary stamp on the front (4th Doctor no less!), but better, as Sylvester Mccoy is from my home town we currently also have a special post mark for our area commemorating the fact which is why he sent it through the postal system!
Ive taught him well in the ways of a Whovian!

Re: Doctor Who [4]
Waterstones in Piccadilly, London are to hold a special event in celebration of Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary, featuring several of the authors represented in the recent re-issue of classic novels by BBC Worldwide.
Steve Cole (Ten Little Aliens), Terrance Dicks (Players), Ben Aaronovitch (Remembrance of the Daleks), Justin Richards (Dreams of Empire), Jonathan Morris (Festival of Death) and Gary Russell (Beautiful Chaos) will be in the store on Saturday 6th April from 3:00pm, where they will be discussing their classic Doctor Who novels and the world of the Doctor, plus signing copies of their respective novels.
Entrance to the event is via a ticket, which are redeemable against the price of one of the books on the day. They can be booked in person in Waterstones Piccadilly, via Facebook (subject to booking fee), or by phoning 02078512400. Tickets will also be available on the day, but anyone wishing to attend should arrive early to avoid disappointment.
So that'd be Lance and maybe Azriel that post might apply to? Jammy buggers. If either of you do go get me a Terence Dicks- I grew up reading his Who noveliations of episodes. I'll probably even pay for it.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
A classic scene from a classic story. The 4th Doctor meets Davros for the first time and after being tortured for a while by Davros they decide to have a philosphical discussion.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
Ok, you might want to skip this post Mrs Figg.
Some of my favourite 11th Doctor scenes (well the ones I could find on youtube anyway)
Old Doctor (reminds me of 1, 2 in his reflective moments and a touch of 7)
Dark Doctor (definite shades of the 1st and 6th temper)
Doctor Introductions (shades of 4th Doctor- he liked a speech, 9th "I am talking!" and 10th "Youre in the biggest library in the universe. Look me up."
Funny Doctor (every Doctor had funny moments and most of them are somewhere inMatts performance mixed in with his own take on the Doctor)
Brings a lot to the Doctor does Mr Smith.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
That's a shame. His reasons for quitting were problems with people in the production, but its an all new prduction team so was hoping he might have been tempted.
Someting similar happeend with Tom Baker (4th Doctor) he left under an ill cloud too and when they did the 5 Doctors Anniverary special he refused to take part. Someting he greatly regretted later in life.
