Anyone watch the above link yet? Seems fine- its dailymotionso no hassles, but suprised its lasted this long.

Go on all you non usual Whovians- its a xmas episode enjoy yourselves.

On an unreleted matter some dedicated souls on Gallifrey Base have been trying to work out what time period the whole Amy/Rory malarky was set over and have come up with this-

1989 - born
1996 - age 7 Amelia
late 1990s - Amelia, Rory & Mels
2000s - teen Amy, Rory & Mels
2008 - age 19 Prisoner Zero
2010 - age 21 series 5
2011 - age 22 series 6
2012 - age 23 Sticks & Stones
2013 - age 24 The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (the Doctor skipped two Christmases)
2014 - age 25 Pond Life (April, May, June, July & August) / Asylum of the Daleks
2019 - age 30 the Doctor last visited 10 months prior (The Cornucopia Caper & 2012 IDW Special?)
2020 - age 31 Dinosaurs on a Spaceship / Hungry Earth cameo / A Town Called Mercy takes place within The Power of Three (Amy and Rory have been traveling with the Doctor for 10 years)
2021 - age 32 second year of The Power of Three

(thaks to NileQT87 of Rassilon for that)

Glad you liked it Mrs Figg- although I would have thought an Amy and Rory free zone would have had you eagerly waiting on new Who.

Is a shame in a way though we dont get a Victroian companion, bustles evey week- been a while since a Victorian companion (one of the 8th Doctors main companions for a while was a Victroian lass- think that was the last one).

Come on, Tennant gurned his way through his time as the Doctor,it was one of the things I least enjoyed about his performance, it was increasingly a series of face pulls and exclamation noises- Smith is nowhere near that. I thought a lot of his stuff was very understated in this episode in particular.
Smiths Doctor does react with the unembarressed enthusasim and excitement of a child when something gets his attention but I wouldnt personally have thought him as a gurner, certainly not in the Tennant league anyway.

Damn straight! You can get away complaining about it when it starts to reach Tennant proportions- and I will be complaining right beside you.

Some rather hot, erm I mean large promo pics of JLC, oh and Smith is in one too-typical that despite Who's budget these days and growing international following the BBC still do this stuff on the cheap in the back lot, and cant even take a pic without a huge light reflected in the Tardis window. They also appear to have just finished spray painting it. Mad

Viewing figures for the xmas episode-

The consolidated UK figures are- 9.87million.
That doesnt include i-player viewing which is currently sitting at 1.46 million.

Meaning Who was only beaten by the soaps (as usual- with easteneders on 11.3 million) but beat ITV flaghship show Downton Abbey and the BBC's other main contender Strictly Come Dancing. So a very healthy showing indeed.

And the ep set a new BBC America record, drawing in 1.4 million viewers, an increase on last years xmas episode of 54 percent.

A letter published in todays Daily Mail-

"Years ago, subliminal messages on TV were made illegal, but I believe this is still happening in the making of TV dramas, in particular on the BBC.
I'm a Doctor Who fan and have been since it first appeared on TV. Those who watched the Christmas edition will have seen the Doctor fighting the Snowmen helped by two women from the future. Several times the women referred to themselves as being married to each other.
This disclosure had nothing to do with the plot, so why was it included? Was it because there is a massive debate going on about gay marriage?
This drama portrayed those in the future and those who save the world as accepting gay marriage as the norm, acceptable and good.
It might sound ridiculous, but this programme has done the same sort of thing in the past - it's avert clever way of promoting a particular view by dropping small remarks into the script to influence a young audience."

Putting aside for the moment that a lage part of the show has always being about acceptance and tolerence of differences, I am guesing the writer doesnt have a good grasp of subliminal messaging- if its in the script, and the characters say it out loud its hardly subliminal!
